Sheesh! The gnomes are running rampant over here too! Who unlocked the cage and let them all out?????????

Well, last year I would have said Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise, but they've gotten all creepy now! How about Matt McConaghey (probably didn't spell it right)? My dream would be John Lennon, but that would mean either he's a ghost or I'm ...........

Well, I haven't written it down or anything, and usually do in large batches to freeze, but I'll try to pare it down for one regular batch:
Chop one onion and sautÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] in olive oil in pan. Add some minced garlic and lightly sautÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] - be careful garlic doesn't burn! Brown one pound of lean ground beef once onion is cooked (looking clear). Drain once cooked. Pour in probably about 1/2 cup red wine and simmer for a few minutes until wine reduces. Add lots of oregano, basil, parsley and some grated parmesan cheese. Simmer for a few minutes. Add about two or three tbsp flour and mix well. Stir in one small can tomato paste, fill can with water and then put water in sauce. Stir well until smooth. Add either 3 or 4 fresh tomatoes, chopped, or one can of crushed tomatoes and one chopped fresh tomato. Then add about 1 tbsp sugar to cut the acid of the tomatoes. Stir well and simmer - the longer the better.
You can adjust the amount of spices while simmering if more desired, plus I keep shaking in parmesan cheese from time to time. If you want meatballs, use my meatball recipe that I posted for the cookbook and add to simmering sauce. Amounts are approximate as I said, because I never measure anything - just cook to taste and usually do large batches.

What is your favorite time of day? Probably evenings - not working then and can relax!

What time do you generally go to bed on the weekdays? Weekdays it's usually about 11 pm.

The weekends? All depends on whether David's working or not - if he is, then probably around midnight. If he isn't we usually go out for dinner on Saturday night and it's usually late - I watch Saturday Night Live when we get home, and it's usually 2 or 3!

Favorite personal quote?

Be brief, be bright, be gone!

Are you a book reader, a music listener or a tv watcher...which do you do prefer to do? Love to read - usually get around 8 books at a time from the library every 3 weeks and I usually get through them! I love to read while having a nice relaxing bath (very carefull to not get the book wet!) and before I go to bed! Great way to unwind. I love to listen to music - usually do in the car on the way to and from work, or when I'm doing housework. Not much for TV, other than maybe reality shows (I'm a junkie) or Desperate Housewives, ER and Corner Gas. I just watched an episode of My Name is Earl the other night - what a hoot!

Oh - I answered the one about my favourite phrase too fast! I do say that a lot, particularly when telling staff how I want a report done! However, the one I say the most is probably "Je ne give a s**t pas"! It just cracks everyone up - a lot of people at work have started using it too, which is hilarious!

Yours is def different than mine, I don't use flour or sugar.

It's okay, I really don't have mine written down either,

Ground Beef, chopped onion, chopped portabella mushroom sometimes chopped green pepper (sometimes not). I usually saute the onion, mushroom and pepper(If I use pepper). Then add the ground beef and some worstechere sauce and red wine and season it with Italian seasoning and garlic.

Now the sauce, I use 2 big huge cans (I have no clue what the oz are cause I don't look but it's like 4 of the 15 oz cans I think in total) of crushed tomatoes, 2 15 oz cans of tomato puree, 2 cans chunky diced tomatoes, 2 of 12 oz cans of tomato paste (which I use as a thickener).

I add those in, season first with Italian coat the surface...stir, then Oregano, coat surface and stir, and then a teeny bit of basil (adds a sweet flavor), and sometimes I use a couple cloves of fresh garlic but usually it's powdered, I coat the surface and stir....

Let that stew in a crock pot for a few hours....then I cook the meat, add that and then it can cook for another hour or more...and boom, spaghetti sauce.

Like I said show me yours...

What is the weather generally like in Ontario?
How could has it ever gotten?
What's the typical temps in the spring/summer?

Okay...I think I'm done asking questions.

Yup - yours is different than mine! I'll have to try it sometime! What's the weather like here? Well, it varies. We definitely have 4 seasons - winter seems to be the longest. This past summer it was around 36 to 38 C (and sometimes higher!) with a high humidity level most days! We're talking temps in the area of 100 - 110+ with the humidity factor. Usually it doesn't get that bad, though. Runs between 20 to 30 C, depending on what front is going through. Dry summer this year, but it's making up for it now. Winters we generally get a lot of snow, although not as much the last few years. Snow can start anywhere from late October to December and can run to March or April or sometimes the odd flurry in May! We usually have a white Christmas! The one sure thing here - you can't depend on the weather!

How did you end up in Ontario?
We moved to Trenton when I was 15. My father was in the Air Force and this was his last posting.

What do you like about Ontario?
We have so much here. Where I live you can get to Toronto in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours (an hour to Pickering on the 401), about an hour east to Kingston and 3 hours to Ottawa! All completely amazing cities! I'm going to Ottawa this Tuesday for business. We have incredible beaches - the area that I live in boasts the Sand Banks, which are world-class (we get a lot of Hollywood celebs buying recreational properties over there), Presqui'ile, West Lake, North Beach, Consecon, etc etc - all of these are within 1/2 hour to 45 minutes of where I live! Everything you could possibly want is within a short drive. Gorgeous scenery, green everywhere, lots of fresh air, what more could you want!

What don't you like about Ontario?
I'd have to say the winters! I drive 1/2 hr to work each way, and in the winter it's not nice! Plus I was born in BC(Vancouver) and never even saw snow until I was 4 and didn't know what it was the first time I saw it! Definitely not a winter person and don't like being cold!

Where else would you like to live and why?
I love Ottawa - lived there twice growing up and it's an amazing city - very clean with lots of parks, bicycle areas, museums, entertainment, shopping, you name it! Also wouldn't mind living in BC again - my brother lives in Abbotsford BC and I have a lot of family out west. I wouldn't mind trying the Island (Vancouver Island) because the climate is so temperate and the gardening is incredible!

I have to agree with that. Hubby and I spent our anniversary there and found it very lovely.

I'm back to work tomorrow, and leaving on Tuesday for Ottawa for a couple of days, so won't be around much this week. If anything comes in while I'm gone, I'll answer when back (probably not till Thursday). Then it's the next "victim's" - er, honoree's turn next Friday! Who will it be! Only the great Carsick knows for sure!

Bye..have a good trip!!! It's nice to see that there is another TCSer so close by. I'm in the great borough of Peter, but grew up in Pickering. I haven't been to Trenton in a few years, but what a lovely area!!!
