seriously..
Elliott is 3 months old.
She was given to me when she was 7 weeks old.
I've read how kittens "make bread" because it's like when they were nursing.
I've also read how some kittens do it if they were taken from their mommies too early...
it's very cute..
HOWEVER...
Elliott tries to suck on my upper lip. I mean she gets a good grip, closes her eyes, purrs, makes bread on my face and just sucks.
I know it sounds adorable, and it really is...but it's gross.
I don't let her do it, but she sneak attacks me in the middle of the night when I'm asleep. I wake up and she's sucking on the middle of my upper lip.
When I make her stop, she gets upset. She meows and tries to uncover my face.
After she gives up, she goes to find my other cat Amelia (10 months) and curls up with her and starts sucking on one of her front paws.
She puts up with it for like 3 minutes and then runs off.
(she's a moody teenager tho)
Anyway, when she wants to nurse, she will jump up on me and start meowing and is already purring and will just fight me to get attached to my lip.
I read about OCD too..and she loves to eat.
She gets NUTS when she thinks she is going to get food.
What is going on here?
Any thoughts?
Thanks!

To me it sounds like maybe this kitten was taken away from it's mother to early and you are acting in it's place. From my experience this isn't permant, just putting the kitten in a comfort zone, something that she would have experienced with her mother more often if she was taken away from her at the correct time. I'm no expert, good luck with this.

I have one cat who at 9 still suckles the tip of my elbow, the kneading is a natural response even in older cats, it's a comfort thing. When kittens suckle at their mother they knead to get the nipple to produce milk, as they get older they remember this pleasurable experience and will knead most unsuspecting laps when they are happy and content.
