My 8 months old just loves to play with water!!
everytime i give them a fresh bowl of water, he just runs over and splashes around in it, and the other cat just sits and watches him!!

also everytime after anyone showers, he'll run into the bathroom and jump into the bath tub and start walking around and licking water off the tap... is there anyway to make him stop? because im scared that if i had to go out for 2 or 3 days they will have no water left coz of that naughty one!!

JC loves to play in water and will sometimes jump into the shower. I keep a sturdy ceramic bowl in the back sink, and leave the tap dripping, and I hang a strip of toweling from the faucet into the bowl so the cats have a continuous source of fresh water. It's a bit wasteful on water but works great when I have to be gone for awhile.

Mosi loves playing with water - makes washing and doing my teeth a bit tricky as he's always there, perched on the edge of the washbasin! I fill a tub sometimes and put ping pong balls and bath toys in for him to play with - he loves it but makes a bit of a mess.

My Gollum also loves to play with water
. After I have showered he spends ages watching the water drip down the shower wall and he also enjoys licking the water around the floor of the shower
. He also loves his weekly bath.

You shouldn't leave your cats alone for that long. Things like accidents can happen and a kitten or cat can't pick up the phone and call 911. If you go away for longer than over night you should make provisions to have someone come in once a day at least to provide fresh water and food and to scoop the cat litter. Failing that you should find a reputable kennel and board your cat(s) while you are away.

Cats are not independent as many people like to think. They are dependent on us for their food, water and other needs. You wouldn't go away and leave a child on their own, why would you leave a defenseless pet?

As for your cat playing, you should enjoy it. Not many cats enjoy getting themselves wet, and the fact that yours does is strange and cute My uncle used to have a cat that loved to splash around in the sink when my uncle shaved and loved to play with the drips from the tap.

Maui doesn't necessarily play in the water but he's fascinated by it! He likes to look into the tub while I'm taking a shower and I can tell he's debating on whether or not he should get in to play! When I wash my face at night he stares at the sink and the water but never touches it... He HAS to be on the counter or in the dishwasher while I'm doing dishes too...

The ping pong balls are a good idea! Maybe next time I'm out I'll pick up a few and put about an inch or so of water in the tub and see if he'll get in if there is a toy in there for him. I know he's so curious about it but he's a chicken!

Libby's the same as your Maui, Sarah. She doesn't like touching water but she's fascinated by it. Any time I run a tap, she's there, or outside the bathroom door when my husband showers. She's particularly become obsessed with glasses of water. She loves when I leave her a glass of water out with an ice-cube in (in the same room i'm in so i can make sure she doesn't hurt herself with it). She likes to try and bat the ice around (then looks all mortified when she realises it's wet - and then goes right on trying to bat it!).

The funniest was the other day. She was playing hard and it was warm inside and she started panting. So I got a small plate and put an ice-cube on it and a small amount of water. She kept trying to bat the ice-cube and getting her feet wet. I carried on watching and 2 minutes later she gets fed up and suddenly whips the plate out (like magicians do when they whip a table cloth off a table and leave all the silverwear/plates in place) and the water and ice just fell to the floor.

Cats are so funny

I have a cat that lovers to play with water and loves being wet. Claude sits on the side of the tub and gets soaked by the shower mist when I shower. He does not understand the shower head in our 2nd bathroom is not in the same place. When my hubby showers in his bathroom Claude sits there and my hubby drizzles water from his hand on to the cat. If he is not getting wet fast enough he swats at you. Claude's brother Tegato sometimes plays with water when I am taking a bath he sticks his paws in the water and splashes me.

Woah! I didn't think that was a usual thing. My Kitten Rocko always sticks his paw in his dish and moves it around and gets it all over the place. It's a pain to clean up every single day, but it's also really cute

My two girl cat sisters will jump in the sink if there's water dripping from the faucet. They like to play but don't like getting wet
It's really cute when they do that. Whenever I fill the bathtub too they are very interested but don't get too close. I have one of those pet water globes where the water is constantly recirculating. They love it.

The funniest thing happened this morning - Radar has really reacted badly to the sound of running water in the past, fleeing from the noise as quickly as possible - but today he got in the sink while I was washing his food bowl using running water. He started to chase the water as it flowed down the plug hole, and was batting at the taps. It was quite hilarious, but I was careful not to laugh out loud or do anything to startle him, as there is a lot of white fur on him and although I'd rather not have to, he may at some point in the future need a bath.
