I just got a kitten two days ago from a "friend of a friend". I think that he was too young to be taken from his mother, i would say he is about 6 weeks old. He won't drink water, and for an entire day refused to eat the food we gave him (which was purina kitten food moistened with water). However, he did still poop twice during the day.

Today, we purchased some special lactose free milk for kittens and some kitten canned food. He seems to like both of those much better and has been eating regularily but now he hasn't pooped or peed in more than a day.

Is this just from a change in food, or is something else wrong? He seems to be active and healthy.

You need to switch from cow's milk to either goat's milk or KMR which is Kitten Milk Replacement.

This is a good site for you to read up on:

She says she got lactose-free milk for kittens, so I think she got something like KMR, is that right, sweatereyes?

It sounds like you're doing a great job to me... we got Ziggy at five weeks, and we had to do the same thing. He's fine now.
