I currently have a 2.5 year old Tortoiseshell Colored cat. She is a female and very temperamental. I want to get a male kitten - I am looking at a Tabby. Do you think this is not going to go over well? I have done research on Tortoiseshell cats and although they can be naughty I've read they are very maternal. So I am hoping they will get along. What do you think?

My Ginger is a torbie with "tude" and so far everything is going quite well with our new orange tabby male, Ferris. There are a couple of threads going, the most recent being: Ferris smells like cookies!

It was a bit rocky to start off with, but after 4 days, when I left the house this morning, Ginger and Ferris were busy playing, "I'll chase you then you chase me!"

What I was told is time and patience, and be as slow as possible with the intros, and they'll be fine. I DO recommend a male kitten if you have a Tortie already. Expect tortitude to start off with, but once he realizes who's boss, it ought to go quite well!

Good luck and keep us posted!!!
