Do you believe in life after death ? and if you are reincarnated what where you before ?

I think I must have been a cat...........

I was so distraught today after reading about Socks and other furbabies crossing the bridge
It bothered me all day and the strong feelings just kept welling up. I am always wondering why I have such a strong connection to animals. The strength and depth of it makes me question, why ? ............why do I feel so passionate about animals ? ...............why am I so sensitive to animals ? etc...etc... ? I am not religious and my child-hood didnt feature cats until I left home. But, many times, I just think I must have been a cat. Its as if I can feel the pain and anguish from all the years of hurt
and when I look at any cat.................I am just THERE
Sorry if this all sounds a bit wierd
but today the whole thing about reincarnation was on my mind alot

My mom has always said that I was a big cat - specifically a lioness - in a past life. I'm not religous, but I believe in karma, and I'd like to believe in the idea of reincarnation. To me, it just makes sense. Recycling the souls until they reach perfection and can achieve Nirvana. I like it.

I'm not religious either, but I don't really believe in reincarnation, I do believe in souls though, I have a lot of conflicting beliefs
I haven't ironed out all the details.

Wow we sound a lot alike. I would like to believe in reincarnation. But at this point in my life I am not sure what to believe in!

I do believe in it. I have deja-vu memories of being a child in the early 1920's. The memories are as real as any memory I've ever experienced in my life, so the only explanation I have for it, is that I had to have lived in that era, in another life. Not only that, but I've described things that I remember from those memories, and I've been accurate. There is no way I would have known those things, or seen those things, had I not been alive during that era.

No thanks. One life is difficult enough for me to handle. What would be the point of reincarnation if I cannot remember all the things I learned in my previous life? I would rather be not ever reborn again.

My experience is similar in some ways to Hope's. Mine is about the Antebellum South, though. In 8th grade I was so infuriated with how the South was portrayed in the history books, I raised my hand and challenged the teacher on it, and told him how it "really was"!
He just looked at me, kind of stunned, and said "She's absolutely right. The book is wrong, that isn't how it really was."
The book was portraying everyone has slave owners, and every slave owner was cruel and merciless, and slavery was the primary reason for the Civil War, which was totally untrue.

But what sealed the deal is when I was out visiting my grandparents on spring break of my senior year, and I actually found my own grave. The strange thing is, I took pictures of that cemetary, but not of that grave. I don't even remember the name of the town. I can't even tell you how I knew, except that I just KNEW that's what it was. I was 19, died in childbirth (which I already knew) in 1859 so the debate over the issues of the War was being talked about, but that also explains why I don't have any interest or real knowledge about the War itself.

Reincarnation is the spiritual path that I follow. I believe that we as humans are to spend lifetimes on this planet until our souls learn what it is they have to learn. Once that happens we move on to the next plain of existence, and it starts all over again. With in this belief I also think that souls, once they reach a certain plain of existence can choose to go back, and be human again if they so wish. I believe that my cat 8-Bit is a reincarnated little boy. For some reason he seems so familiar to me, we must have met once before. Scratch, however, I think has always been a cat in his past lives.

I also believe animal abusers are forced to come back as show dogs. The more obscene the abuse, the smaller the dog.
