Thought I would try here, although I have posted everywhere else.
I got a call from a woman here, who is overrun by kittens, 6 months, and 4 months....
She needs them out , and even our non kill shelters are either not accepting or are now putting them to sleep..
I am helping the KY shelter as much as possible, so dont want to necessarily bring them here unless I have to.
IF anyone in Pittsburgh pa, or knows anyone here...That wants a kitten "yesterday" please let me know
Thanks

These are not the kitties from KY. If you want to adopt one of the KY kitties , go to that post, and see which kitties you are interested in, Thanks

Best thing would be for her to try to place these kittens herself. I don't know a single rescue that isn't overfull with cats and kittens right now.

That is what I told her will have to be done. It was the cruelest I have ever felt. But when asking her why there are so many, she says the 4 momma cats keep having litters outside of her house.
Its been going on for yrs. So then I said why dont you get them fixed , or turn the mothers over to a shelter who will hopefully fix her.
She didnt want to.
So I said I am not going to risk the health of my child, plus my other kitties, by taking these cats in. Plus she said they have terrible fleas, plus ticks, etc..
I felt bad after speaking with her, but I am not gonna bend my back for someone who is not willing to solve the problem.
The Ky shelter has been wonderful, and those kitties are vaccinated, tested, altered..
That is how I want to do things, not like this...
So I might have done the wrong thing, but I know by stressing myself out for weeks, trying to get them healthy and adopted, wasnt what I needed..

Cant the Humane Society or SPCA intervene???? These cats are probably DYING, they must be anemic and just suffering. If only someone near her would donate some Frontline and help her to groom them. Maybe there is a local 4-H group in her area, or a teen group from a local church who would help out, if only they knew about the problem. It's hard for me to believe that you are the only kind-hearted soul willing to get involved - as you said, you already have your hands full
i'm sending major {{{prayers and vibes}}} that positive solutions come soon! Susan

So many cats... Four cats, all having litters?! In a year, she'd end up with dozens of cats...

Isn't that animal cruelty, to have so many cats and not take care of them!?

I think the only step for me right now is to either , report her..Or ignore it..
And I think about them every hour on the hour..
I just cant risk bringing that stuff home to my babies, or the fosters coming from KY..I CANT AND WONT.
I would have helped if she would have agreed to end the problem, instead of denial that there is a problem..
She has 3 wk olds she was saying she needed out!!
Then when I asked where momma cat was, she said who knows, outside.
It needs to be addressed by someone "bigger" then me..
I have finally for the first time felt undefeated. I am going to see what I can do tomorrow.
These cats are beyond frontline. I contacted a few shelters to see if they would atleast take them, with me fostering. That way they provide alot of stuff, and i will give them a home, but I cant afford to start from scratch with sick kittens, not that many of them
We'll see

ok will do, and thank you..please understand I didnt want to be cruel by denying taking them. But if I really do get kitties from KY, its unfair to have a bunch of unvetted wilds, when I have wonderfully vetted shelter cats ..

It's ok...and really, you aren't helping her if all you are going to be doing is removing the kittens..but she will still have intact females. That is why I recommend a TNR group.
