But I figured you breeders might know the answer to this one!

I adopted a 5-year-old CFA-bred Himalayan, through a rescue society, and the previous owners delayed a long time sending his papers.

Well, they sent his pedigree information, including the original blue slip -- they never paid the $10 bucks to actually fully register him. At least they kept the blue slip!

My question is, can I, as the non-original owner, send that blue slip in? It's over five years old, so I hope the addresses and such are correct. But they never sent it in to register themselves as his owner.... so as far as the CFA is concerned, would I be the original owner?

Thanks for the suggestions!

Here is the phone number for CFA : (732) 528-9797
They are located in New Jersey.
You can also email at: [email protected]

Just explain the situation and ask them what additional documentation you might need. I think you should be able to register the cat as your own.

If you have the blank Blue Slip with no owner listed, then you can fill it out and send it in as the owner of the cat. CFA's address has not changed. But if there is a phone number on the sheet, call and verify just to be sure.

If no phone number of headquarters, then call up CFA's website for the info.

Thanks for the help!

I called, they said that since I had the blue slip that I could register him as the first registered owner. Since he's older it will cost $15.00.

I think I want to do the six generation pedigree anyway, mainly to look for PKD. We're having him DNA-tested due to his urinary problems, but the tests haven't come back yet.
