So, yea, I'm sitting at the computer surfing around and I hear this buzzing noise in the kitchen, I look over and Baby-girl has the biggest bee I've ever seen, cornered.
I opened a window, and tried to get her away, but she's the most obstinate cat when she gets her mind fixed on something.
I finally tracked an old sandal down, and killed it (the bee, not my baby) and now she's furious with me

Can bees hurt cats? or am I being way overprotective?

I don't think you're being over-protective! I wouldn't want my boys playing with a bee either!

Thanks, I know she's nearly 2, but I'm still kind of a first time momma

I'm still learning, one grey hair at a time

Salix you're not being overprotective, i think i'd be freaking out if one of my babies was trying to catch it. Flies are fine though!

My boys chase bees, even though they've both been stung. Pushy doesn't seem to mind the sting, but Wiggies got quite a fright and hid for a while. We rang the vet and they said to keep and eye on him in case of a reaction. So they can have bad reactions to bee stings, just like humans.

Thanks guys
I can tell that Miss Mica and I are going to butt heads (no pun intended) on this in future. She's obsessed with bees, and anything else I try and keep her away from.

Yes, a bee can hurt a cat- so you definitely did the right thing by killing it
