For some reason black kitties are not wanted and we even find that when dealing with rescues, not all but a few of them ask for no more than 1 or 2 black kittens.

I love them all, doesn't matter to me! So sad, poor Muggs. Keep your fingers and hearts crossed for him this weekend.

Certainly will. So very heart breaking for so many cats out there. Good Luck to you too, in the great work you are doing.

"owner surrender"... *sigh* I bet those owners are deluding themselves right now into thinking what a wonderful home those unwanted kittens are getting... and instead they're sitting on death row. They're beautiful little ones, too.

How widely is this shelter advertising its "last day" animals? They're such pretty cats; surely someone will take pity on them?

Sometimes I feel so mad... It's almost a struggle to keep from yelling at random people, giving incoherent lectures about neutering your animals. Of course, they'd just cart me away in a straitjacket, and it's hard to do anything for the cats when you're sitting in a mental ward, so I'll have to desist.

I went to my own local animal shelter today; and there are nothing but cute kittens and the friendliest juvenile cats there... it's sad because you know that all the older cats, feral kittens, or very young kittens have been put to sleep to give these few a chance at adoption.

The shelter does not advertise at all. I volunteer with Save the Kitties and we do all advertising for the cats and kittens.

Spalding does have a petfinder site, but it is updated by volunteers of this organization and others, not the shelter.

We try our best to get each and every cat and kitten rescued, but we are running out of room at our foster homes (which we only have 2 in the immediate area) and running out of rescue opportunities. Everybody is full!!

Since we started the organization in Oct. 2005, we have rescued 95% of the cats and kittens from this shelter and would like to continue. Before we came along, they were lucky if 5% were adopted/rescued.

Owner surrenders - the owners could care less. If they cared, they wouldn't put them in the shelter in the first place, or they would at least take the time to find a good rescue or shelter that does not use a gas chamber.

FOSTER HOMES and RESCUES desperately needed in the Georgia and surrounding areas. Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in helping.

Name him Jellybean! I read somewhere that naming a black cat a cheery name will help him get adopted.
Best wishes to this sweet boy...

Thanks katiemae1277.

I wish I lived closer to. We just have hope that the locals of Atlanta and surrounding areas will visit the shelters and adopt.

Good idea Godiva. I don't know where the shelters come up with their names but most of them are awful.

This is so sad. It really breaks my heart that this innocent little beauties are going to be pts and they did nothing wrong at all.

I wish I had lots of money so I could build a GIANT place to keep all of them.

Oh, this is sooo HEARTBREAKING!! I looked at the pics, and the thread about the cats in Virginia also nearing their PTS date, and it is so sad. AND, to make it feel even worse, my local pet store just got 4 kittens and sold them in less than 48 HOURS
If only, if only I could have brought some of those other kittens out here.......

Good mews!!

Mulan, Muggs, Gita Family, Mandy, Marbella Family, Memphis and Gita have all been rescued

I'm not sure about Magie or Mason. Magie is our featured pet on the Spalding Petfinder http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/GA42.html

I'm hoping they were both rescued.
