Who needs a dog when you have a cat that plays fetch?
Ripley has this thick rubber bracelet (he can't ingest it at all as it is very thick and big) that he likes to play with. He will come and drop it at your feet and look at you expectantly. Me or the kids will throw and he goes bounding after it. Then he will pick it up in his mouth and come drop it and stare at you until you do it again! It's hilarious!!!! Anybody else have a cat that plays fetch???

Isn't it adorable when they do that!!!! LOL

Abby does it sometimes with a pink wool tail that she ripped off a catnip mouse. She loves the tail much more than the mouse itself. She's kind of taken a break from fetch in favour of a new fishing pole type toy I bought.

Mine play fetch and can give paw like a dog can. I am now working on sit up, where they sit on their hind legs, and it's going well.

I live in Phoenix, AZ in the heart of the city in
Cobee (our 1.5 yr old) does this constantly! He will play for hours on end if you let him. He plays with a small mouse, he has 2 of them. Actually he is the reason the babes got kicked out of the room 2 nights ago... he dropped the mouse beside my girlfriend and started digging and yowling for it to be thrown.... ha ha.

He actually thinks he is a dog.... he sprawls out on the back of the couch one foot on either side tries to go through the trash etc.... then again cobee is a character lol... he also plays "mommy" to our 2 youngest... 3 and 4 months.

Yep! Max loves to fetch as well. It's very funny to see he run after the ball and bring it back in his mouth.

Neither of my current cats are all that into playing fetch...Sherman will occasionally and Vinny doesn't really play at all. But...I had a cat about 10 years ago named Steve who LOVED to play fetch! His favorite toy was a rabbit's foot and he would come drop it at your feet or next to you in the chair, and wait or "paw" at you until you threw it. He'd fetch and bring it back in his mouth. I thought it was so much fun, especially because the dog we had at the time had outgrown her years of fetching.

Stumpy LOVED playing fetch with us until we got her a kitten to play with instead
Fetch really worse her out, whereas the kitten wears her out sufficiently now.

She still plays every now and again, but before it was every day, a couple of times a day!

My 12 week old kitten, Jake, plays fetch as well. He has a little black "bat" (sort of looks like him) which he drops at my feet to throw for him and he brings it back, drops it and waits for me to throw it. One night I put the bat in a paper bag that was on the floor for him to play with. He went in got the bat, brought it out and chased it around a bit. Then he carried it in his mouth and put in the bag. I thought "copycat", you're doing that because I did. Then he went and carried his sponge ball and deposited it in the bag, then he did the same with 2 of his jingle bells. It was so medodical the way he did it. With all visible toys deposited in the bag, he jumped up on my lap for some pets and a snooze. Maybe he didn't want anyone playing with his toys while he slept....

Phoenix (1.3 yrs old), I swear he was a dog in his last life! He plays fetch and loves to carry his toys (or what he can get into) in his mouth. He will sit on his bottom and put one paw up (and switches paws when you are not looking). He wants whatever is on your plate and will help himself to what you have if your aren't looking (yes, he will put his paw in your plate!).

We got this trouble maker when he was 3 months old and we think he was born in the shelter.

Here are a couple pics.. and a video of when he was a kitten

well, Pixel plays her own version of fetch. she brings her 'ball' within 3 feet of where i'm sitting, then meows at me until i either get up & throw it for her, or she loses interest because i refuse to get up. she will NOT bring it to me - just nearby. & then, sometimes, when i throw it, she doesn't want to chase it. i can't figure her out. anyway, i have a couple of pix...
here she is, waiting for me to throw the 'ball'

& here, she's pushing one around with her paw. yep, it's a paper towel 'football' - her favorite toy!
