Keiko still needs some of those magical TCS vibes- he's still not walking. I've been doing little exercieses on his legs that the vet showed me to hopefully strengthen them
. Kenzie went outside for the first time today on a teensy kitty harness- it was sooooo cute! I put down a little blanket outside by the catnip garden and let her explore on her lead for a few minutes- she loved it!!!!! (all of my animals are indoor-only, so the only time the go out is with a leash collar and tags on and with me right there to supervies
My older girls all get preventative flea treatment monthly as well.) She was staring up at the sky, swatting at the birds, and everything! It was soo cute! After I brought her back in she decided to explore the dining room too lol.../ I tried to wake up Keiko for a minute to carry him outside and let him get a sniff of fresh air (in my arm
)...but he growled at me, rolled over and went back to sleep-lol he doesn't seem to be a morning kitty....lol

Thing aren't looking good for little Keiko....the vet said he wasn't sure if Keiko would ever start walking again (i ran him by there today, i was really worried, because after doing PT on his little legs, after putting him on different surfaces, putting things in front of him to encourage him to walk, having him around Kenzie,...everything...still no progress). If anything, it's horrible to watch. He is eating well and gaining weight.....but I'm really starting to think he's in pain- he cries and screams everytime you touch his legs (something is wrong...he's not paralyzed- he has feeling in his legs..but yet he can't walk after those seizures...). Also, it's been quite a while since his seizures...something else is going on- he should be walking by now. I don't know what else to do....there is nothing else really to do. We had several vets look at him while I was there....All of them just had this sad look on their face and said i've done everything possible to help him. At this point since he can't walk or control his bowels...we're wondering about his quality of life. I just don't wanna face what happens next if he doesn't start walking soon
. I'd build him a kitten wheel chair if that were realistic (i've seen animal planet with a few Doxies that have one...why couldn't a kitty?) However, it is just not that simple- he is in pain...and no kitty wheel chair can fix that. I asked them about pain meds for him and they didn't want to give him anything because he was soo tiny and with the meds he's already on- it could harm him (i consulted several wonderful vets there, not just one). I'm going to call Bartlett Animal Shelter tomorrow and talk to them. Any suggestions??? I'm really trying everything I can to get this little guy walking again and feeling better. Please let me know what you'd do in this situation. We've exhaused numerous vets, been to multiple vet visits, tried different meds and kitty PT on his legs, and have done just about everything.....

Nikki,

While I know this will get more views in the Lounge, our real experts may not see it here. I'm going to move this to Health & Nutrition where hopefully someone can give you more than vibes to help little Keiko.

He's in my thoughts, and I'm definitely continuing to send vibes to him.

Thankyou for moving it sweetie. I honestly didn't even think to ask a mod to move it because i've been so upset. Thankyou! Hopefully someone will be able to give me a bit of sound advice on this.

Have we talked about a state veterinary school in this thread? Sometimes they have great diagnosticians there. The only other thing I can think to ask is if these are feline specialists...? I'm so sorry he's not better yet - maybe there's a reason, and they can find it soon...

Thankyou both for your posts! I have had him examined by 5 different and wonderful vets (3 specialize in feline health)....the prognosis is just not good at this point. I will call the bartlett animal shelter tomorrow and discuss this with them and call the vet back as well. I recieved a very helpfull pm from CathyC, i think it was, and she gave me a few ideas i will talk to the vets about. Thankyou everyone for the wonderful support and vibes!!!

Aww, I am so sorry to hear that the prognosis isn't good. Fingers crossed that the animal shelter can come up with an idea for you.

I hate to bring such bad news today- but there are no good updates on Keiko...I took him to the vet yet again today in a last ditch effort to try every possible option. I asked him numerous questions including some that I recieved from several folks that pm'd me ideas. The vet said that at this point, little Keiko is too far gone to save. I talked to the Bartlett Animal Shelter- and everyone up there was really sad aslo. I will be bringing him in tomorrow night to be pts....this is soo devistating.
This will be the third foster kitten to pass away in less than a month- this really breaks my heart. The first kitten came in with Kenzie & Keiko and died less than an hour of him being at my house- he was beaten to the point of death by two terrible boys....they killed his momma also. / Little lex- another ragdoll/ dlh mix i was fostering passed away last week from a horrible seizure...he had been to the vet and we all tried everything possible to save him. Now it looks like Keiko will have to be pts tomorrow- this is really breaking my heart- this is by far the worst aspect of fostering kittens. At least Kenzie is looking good- at this point, she is keeping me going. Please keep Keiko in your prayers tonight- maybe he will miraculeously walk again tonight....that would be a miracle. At this point he seems to be in pain from his little legs, he can't walk...he can bairly crawl, and he can't even get into his litter pan or control his bowels- it's soo sad....to make things worse- he's eating really well and is very alert- so it's almost like a contridiction. I asked the vet about this and he said even though he looks good alert- wise and everything, he is really not...and he is in a lot of pain from his legs. They won't give him pain meds because it will interfear with the other meds he was on. At this point- several vets have said the humane thing to do would be to have him pts. Please send me some vibes or something for the little guy- i'm devistated and I just don't have the heart to take him to that appointment tomorrow- but i also dont want to watch him continue to suffer.

I'm so, so sorry to hear about your little Keiko. I just picked up on this thread last night and he is such a sweet looking little kitty.

I know it has to be terribly difficult to go through such tragedy over and over while trying to save and nurture your little fosters. It is without doubt that you are a very special person and have answered a calling many are unable to even consider.

Sending prayers to you and your little ones. Bless you all.
