Some vibes for my brother would be nice. My family lives far away from me in Georgia, and WAY out in the country. My brother had his dog Achates for 14 years after bottle feeding him and his brothers and sisters as puppies. On Saturday he had to put his dog out of his misery.

He had been sick and when my mother went out to check on him he was still refusing to eat, couldn't get up, his eyes had clouded over, and there were flies on him (which she sat and shooed away). He was obviously in a lot of pain as he was yowling quietly. She called my brother at his home and asked him to come over and say goodbye to his dog because she felt like the end was very near.

My brother came and burst into tears at the site of his dog. Rather than let him continue to be in pain and wait to take him to the vet on Monday to be put to sleep (there are no emergency vets anywhere close to where they live) he killed him himself quickly and painlessly on the spot. He and my mother both cried as they took his body and buried him in a place they felt he would have liked.

Before anyone comments on him killing Achates himself, realize that in this circumstance it was the humane thing to do. He was just miserable and in so much pain. The dog did not suffer and died instantly. My mother told him that he did not have to do it himself and she could have called an uncle to come over, but my brother felt that since it was his dog that he should do it himself. He loved that dog so much and so entirely he would not have done anything other than what Achates needed and deserved. He was a member of the family.

Anyway, he's having a hard time of it. He loved this dog so much. I know TCS vibes can be a powerful thing, so if you could just keep my brother in your thoughts. I hope this is the right forum for this. Thanks.

Emily, I'm so sorry. Dear Achates lived a wonderful 14 years and I'm sure he was well loved and cared for. I am glad him and your mom were able to allow him to go peacefully, and he is no longer in pain. My prayers are with your brother and the rest of those Achates touched.
RIP sweet boy

Aw, Emily. How sad for your family. Your brother and the rest of your family are in my thoughts.

Play sweetly over the bridge Achates, now that you're no longer in any pain.
