Piglet and Eeyore are doing well today, caring for Piglet's 16 day old kittens and Eeyore's 2 day old kittens. Here is what I found when I checked on them this evening.

I took the 3 older kittens I could reach out, leaving the tiny ones to have full access to all the nipples. (Piglet's fourth kitten was right under her, and I didn't trust her to allow me to take it!)

T, I, and GG. Or is it Er? Anyhow, these are 3 of Piglet's kittens.

T is the firstborn, the tortie girl. I was born second, a gorgeous ginger boy. Then the tabbies, GG and Er, one boy and one girl.

Eeyore (brown tabby) and Piglet (patched tabby) with Gopher, Owl, Rabbit, Christopher and Robin. And either GG or Er, hiding under Piglet.

So precious. They are all fat and happy, and nice and quiet until I disturb them. So I know all are doing well.

I'm glad that Eeyore is doing better after her rocky start as Mom.

Love that pile of kitties.

Yes, she is right in there caring for the wee ones. I guess with the last litter (April/May of this year), Eeyore stole Piglets kittens and cared for them the first two weeks, until Piglet starting caring for them. So Piglet owed her...now the sisters are even!

Maybe it is the camera angle, but those two sisters (the mommys) have such exotic, long faces. Beautiful. But that also gives them more 'glareability'. I wouldn't have reached under that cat for that kitten either, with her glareing like that.

Piglet and Eeyore do have very long noses. And they are kind of hissy, so I try not to push my luck. They both took squeezy cheese off my fingers tonight. And Piglet jumped out of the cage to eat canned food in front of me.

Baby steps, baby steps. They are going back to the original owner after being spayed, so they don't really "need" to be tamed. But I will try to make some progress with them. At least they are letting me tame the babies!

I'm updating this thread...with more pics! I went to change the bedding tonight, and Piglet was a little rattled to be missing some kittens!

"I just stepped out for a minute, and all 9 babies are GONE!"

"Hey Mom" and "Hey Aunt Piglet," "we are over here in this new cage." (A laundry basket.)

As soon as the nest was ready, I put the little kittens back in with her.

But she wasn't happy. She kept walking out, looking at her babies, jumping back into the nest and softly mewing, as if calling them home!

So I put her kittens in with her...and some of them began to nurse!

But one little adventurous tabby was determined to get back out of the cage to explore some more. Chewing on the bars didn't work, so lets try clawing our way out! Check out those talons! And only 3 weeks old!

"Maybe I could just walk through the sleeping kittens and wake them up for some entertainment!"

"I know there is life outside this cage!"

"I was out once...how do I get out again?!?!"

Long gone are the days when a nip of milk and a nap were enough to keep you happy, like your baby cousin Gopher!
