Pixel just started freaking out over a wound that she got in a cat fight a few days ago on her back. It's larger today than the little scab it was yesterday when I was checking her. She had them all over her body.

I have a bottle of sodum chloride for irrigation (0.9%) the type they use for humans' wound cleaning. Last time she had one of these I sort of opened it up and irrigated it until it went away.

I'd like to get her more comfortable tonight. Is there anything that will calm her down too? She is almost like a dog chasing her tail over this, at least right now...not good, there is a storm building and of course she hates being inside with all the kittens.

Get her to the vet. Don't start treating something until you know what it is and your vet has seen her.

I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow. It's a small claw wound, about the size of one of those circles below that you click on to choose a smile or sad face for this post, and the wound is almost just out of her reach. She can reach it but just barely, to lick it, then it starts bothering her again right after she licks it and so it's making her a little crazy and irritated. Since I'm taking her tomorrow I'm leaving it alone, I just wish I could give her something to calm her down.

Oh I am SO going to get some of that. I know what it is from long ago and she is always stressed out these days, over the kittens. Thanks Cathy.

Hmmm. Wouldn't her licking that wound be good for it? That's what's always cured them before. I realize however, that these claw wounds can get very bad very quickly, but Pixel will be needing her rabies shot this year anyway so I am bringing her in tomorrow.

Are you thinking with the collar she can't lick it so that would calm her down?

I am fairly sure she would be a complete basket case with a collar around her neck unless sedated. With the kitten smell all over the house all she wants is to be outside in her yard; just touching her is making her hiss at me--the situation seems to be getting more stressful rather than better, or moving backwards a few steps anyway, not progressing forward. It was all I could do to keep her in and alone not near the kittens for awhile today while it was raining.

After she is better we are probably going to have to think of finding better homes for my little darlings, Peeka and Boo. Pixel is just so miserable and not getting any better....which is another story....
