I just had my five month old kittens spayed and neutered yesterday. My husband was asking the vet about kitten food and what kind he recommends (we feed them IAMS, but have heard it's not the greatest for them), and the vet told him we can start to feed them adult food now. I know a vet knows what he is talking about, but from what I've been reading about it, it seems that kittens should be on kitten food until one year of age.

I'm going to wait until the babies heal from their surgery before I switch their food (they have sensetive tommies and I don't want them to get diarriah while they have stitches), but first I wanted some opinions on how early other people switched their kittens to cat food.

Any advice would be appreciated.

P.S. Ross weighs 11 lbs, he would probably be okay with cat food, but Monica only weighs 6lbs, she is tiny.

i know you found the answers you were looking for but my vet recently recommended switching to adult food at around 8 month because she has been seeing a lot of overweight 10 months olds.
