Gollum is now 5 months old and is good in every way except for one... he does NOT stop biting us. Is this due to teething?? I have tried clapping my hands and saying 'no' when it happens, but he only stops for a couple of seconds before he starts up again. I would hate this to still be happening when he gets older. If he licks us instead of biting I give him lots of praise - do you think he will ever get the message

try getting him to focus his playing on a toy instead of your hands

when he bites you firmly say no and immediately stop interacting with him for a few minutes.

im lucky i guess. i dont have this problem with kya, she seems to know that hands are for being petted with and toys (and our other cat) are for playing with and biting.

If he has started biting only recently it is teething. I suggest you get him "teething" toys. When he bites you, hiss and blow air at his face making sure you have eye contact. In cat language it means you do not like his behavior. Then stop interacting with him for a while. He'll get the message.
I have 5 kittens. It works.

Thanks Jaycee and Yayi
. I will take the advice and hang in there... he is so sweet in every other way. Oh... and he also likes to bite Phoebe (French Bulldog) from time to time, but she has made it crystal clear that it is not acceptable
