I used to work in a store called stewarts and all the costumers that come in are like regulars. well on guy came in and asked me if i knew anybody that wanted kittens and I was like wel no but i want one. he gave me his number and i talked to my ex (my bf at the time) and asked him if we could get another cat it was a fight i tell ya. well he finally agreed that we could and he brought them to my job and then i picked out princess!!! she was so cute and tiny!!
then prince my b/f and i went to his brothers house and he just mention to be careful driving because mama cat had kittens again, and then i looked at my bf w/ that look as to say can i get one. we went out looked at the kittens saw prince and got him 2 weeks later!! they are a perfect match!!!!

I can't believe it's almost been a year since Tucson, my last kitty died. But anyway, he was missed, and I went for six months without a cat. Then one day I was in PetsMart and saw Quill's (Or "Chopper" as he was called) little white face and begged my parents to adopt him.

There is a lady that lives down the street from my mother that fostered the pregnant cats at the shelter. Duke was one of the kittens from one of these cats. He was 8 weeks when my mom picked him. Sibohan also came from the same place. She was however a 1.5-2 year old mother. She had been found walking along the highway the pads of her feet were bleeding and she had recently had kittens she still had milk. Sibohan was taken to the same lady that we had gotten Duke from to be a serogate mother to some of the kittens. When I went to get here there were only 3 mothers left and they were about to be sent back to the shelter after having been fixed. The minute I was Sibohan's bright green eyes I was in love. I treated her feet and she's now my little princess

Orig. from Texas.. Currently in Minnesota (again)
I got Salem from a local vets in TX he was 8 weeks old and it was middle of october and no one wanted black kitties cause it was close to halloween
i saw salem and just fell in love!!!! (I fell in love with his sister too (Isis) but she decided that she wanted to live with my neighbor lol and stayed in TX).I adopted both of them right there on the spot because the vet said that he was fixing to have to put them to sleep if they were not adopted within the next week or so.

I went to my cousins house one dy and she said she had this tabby cat under her porch that wouldn't come out but it didnt belong to her. so i looked under the porch and saw this beautiful brown tabby with the sweetest face i ha ever seen. i called her but she wouldn move. my cousin went in the house and i sat down on the porch and she came running out and hopped up in my lap. i went to all the neighbors and asked if anyone knew who she belonged to and no one did so i took her to the vets got all her shots and everything and took her home and named her Ailey Marie.

I went to the local humane shelter here and saw this giant ball of fur laying on the desk as i entered the building his name was george and he is a maine coon is what i was greeted with when they saw me walk over to him and start talking. he looked up at me with these huge sleepy green eyes and i knew in an instant that this was my cat. i filled out the paperwork and turned it in. i went and saw him everyday until they finially called me and said that i had been approved and could take him home (2 agonizing weeks later) he had been dropped off at the sheler as kitten about only 4 months old because his meowmy and daddy got a divorce. he will be 4 on jan. 1st. he had been at the shelter for almost 4 years
! I brought him home and renamed him Merlin!!

Radar the cat: from a nice family home, as a result of seeing a classified ad on a local website.

Jasper the Senegal parrot: a slightly sadder story of a 'throwaway' pet - I was looking for either a Senegal or Quaker parrot, having waited years to be in a position to get a larger bird, and having narrowed it down to those species for suitability in terms of my living arrangements and lifestyle. I had a Senegal lined up from a breeder, but unfortunately an early and unexpected frost came and she lost the whole clutch.

I happened to go to an aviary not long after, and went to have a look at the baby bird room. As soon as I went in the room, a young Senegal leapt over to hang from the side of his cage and started screeching. I of course went over and he started doing all kinds of acrobatics to get to me, and lowering his head begging for scritches. I wasn't going anywhere without him! Turned out that he had been brought in the day before by a couple who had bought him in a garden centre on a whim to replace a missing cat, and when the cat came back they just didn't want the parrot any more, to them he was simply disposable
(I feel sorry for that cat also if his/her family have that attitude). He was 15 weeks old. I was the 5th home he had known in his short life - breeder, garden centre, family home, aviary, and then me. He bonded with me instantly and has separation anxiety and is quite phobic and nervous. Hopefully one day he will realise that I am not going to abandon him.

PS. since this occurred, the sale of exotics at garden centres has been banned in the UK

In a state of misery w/o my Bella
Ok here it goes:

Bella, My love! My dad got Bella for me for my first christmas as a newlywed. I went to their house as usual for Sunday Dinner and he told me to check his answering machine because he can't hear good. And on the machine was a lady calling back about the inquiry into the Himalayan Kitten. I WAS SO EXCITED.He just said go get her!! That was over 12 1/2 years ago and my sweet Bella is now living bravely with cancer

Sophia. Never thought I would get a cat at a pet store but went in and saw all these himalayan kittens in there and just wanted to take them all and get them out of there. There were crazy birds flying around and a huge bird making crazy noises. My husband had just lost his dog of 12 years and I wanted to cheer him up so I got her and they love each other!
Severino. I talked my husband into going to his first cat show. We were walking around and he says look at that little kitten in that cage he's playing with the for sale sign. We asked to hold him and he purred and kissed us and the rest is history we could not resist!!! He also had crooked teeth and people weren't lining up to take him

Joey, He showed up in our backyard in the dead of winter and we fed him and my husband built him a house and we had an animal heating pad in there etc.
It took us 3 months to get this guy in the house, first we caught him and took him to the vet to make sure he didn't have something he could have given our other cats. They all got to know him through the back door they stared at each other for hours. That was over 2 years ago..he's still here!!!!

Rosie was bought from a pet shop. I rang every shelter there was but no one had any kittens
Then i managed to fine one who had 1 girl and 3 of her brothers. The girl described Rosie over the telephone which was a tortie with a black smudge on her nose that looks like someones just dabbed on with a paintbrush. I told her not to sell her and that i would be straight over from work to pick her up, and i brought my little girl home that night

Sophie was from a vet nurse friend. Sophies mum (Jasmine) had been taken to Emmas surgery by her owners thinking she was having problems giving birth, but everything went fine. When Emmas surgery rang the owners to let them know, but that there would also be a cost involved because of their care and attention they asked if they could not only find homes for the kittens but for Jasmine also

I took Sophie after Emma sent her picture to me by e-mail, and thankfully all the other kittens, including Jasmine were found loving homes

Katie was found as a tiny kitten roaming in the yard of a British woman living in Belgium, with no mama cat in sight. She felt she couldn't keep the kitten, so advertised her on the radio. Several people responded, but I was the lucky one who ended up with Katie. We've been together ever since.

Gracie came from a feral colony that a friend was feeding. She was the only kitten in her litter to survive. Since my bridge kitty, Willy, had passed away a couple of months before, I was looking for another cat as a companion for Katie. I really want young, male cat and not a tuxedo because I was afraid he would remind me of Willie. I went to my friend's house to meet the kitten, not knowing whether it was male or female or what it looked like. I came home with the exact opposite of what I was looking for - a female, tuxedo kitten - my sweet, crazy little Gracie!

Peter came from a litter of feral kittens I helped socialize when I started volunteering for a local TNR group. I had no attention of adding a third cat
thinking it would upset the girls and disrupt the household, but I totally fell for Peter, the most timid of the bunch. He would his and cringe at human contact. He and his sister, Claire, were the last to be adopted and returned just a couple of weeks later, with the report that Peter, in particular, was vicious. Concerned he wouldn't get adopted again, I finally brought Peter home at the age of six months. It couldn't have worked out better! He's been good for the girls and is best buds with Katie, despite an 11-year age difference. And, he's grown from that timid feral kitten into an incredibly sweet, goofy boy!

Claire was adopted several more times and returned through no fault of her own before ending up in a wonderful home with an kind local priest. When he died unexpectedly less than six months after adopting her, I rushed over to pick her up. I briefly considered trying to find her another home but, with a lot of support from everyone at TCS, realized she belonged with her brother in a patient, loving home where she would have all the time she needed to blossom. It worked! She's turned out to be such a sweet, funny girl who loves to play with her brother and tease her big sisters.

i've told the stories of mine many times, but i don't mind telling them again!
Pixel [& Mouse, her littermate] i chose from an 'accidental' litter from a family who lives in the community where i teach. i actually chose Mouse, because i really like blue cats. Pixel was the kitten that was Mouse's best friend - i told the family i wanted the blue kitten & her best friend [hoping it would be the blue-pointed boy]. Pixel is going to be 9 - we're celebrating her birthday on Friday [i can't remember the actual date]
Cable was found in the road outside the school where i work at approximately 8 weeks of age - scrawny, dehydrated & covered in fleas. she just turned 2 [again, birthdate approximated].
Java was found in the parking lot of the school where i work - she was guesstimated to be about 3.5 months old at the time. she had no fleas, but had a bad bacterial intestinal overgrowth that took awhile to overcome. she's about 1.5 years old now.
Chip was adopted from a local animal shelter in March of 2006. i'm using his 'gotcha' day - march 15 - as his birthday. he is approximately 3 years old.

I've also told mine a few times, but here goes

Harley:
I have never been a cat person - I thought they were cute and all, but I never imagined myself owning a cat. John's (my boyfriend) mom's cat had just had her first litter, and we went over and saw the 3 of them - they were so cute, I went over at least once a week to see them - I was hooked!

John & I were @ work one day (we worked together at the time) and he came into my office and asked about getting a kitten.... I was like ugh, I dunno.... well, he took me to his mom's and sat me down with all 3 of the kittens. Harley was the runt - he could hardly hold his head up, and he was so wobbly and adorable. I told him that whatever one came to me and showed interest, we would bring home (I was hoping the adorable little orange one would...) but as the other 2 ran in opposite directions, here came this little wobbly headed thing... just meowing like crazy, right to me. He sat in my lap and purred so loud - of course, I was in love

Davidson:
He's a cat from the same mom cat that we got Harley from. She was not spayed at the time, and of course got pregant this spring. Well, Harley was showing some distructive behaviour, and I knew I wanted to get him a friend, as we are gone for work every day during the week for 8 + hours. There were 5 kittens in this litter - and John got to pick out this one - we both fell in love with the little fluffy gray kitten (that had been pure white when born) that was just a bundle of energy - perfect fit for Harley! We brought him home and introduced him to Harley and they got along perfectly from the start - no problems at all. They are 1/2 brothers and best friends - they are perfect for eachother

Well, I had just met this woman through a friend and we were chatting, when I casually mentioned that I was thinking about adopting a cat. She told me that she was going to have to bring her two cats to the shelter that week because of her boyfriend. I offered to take them off her hands and that's how I got Pia and Twiggy. Pia is no longer with us.

Newbie was a different story. I had no plan to adopt another cat, but my aunt had just died and I was feeling very low. I went to PetSmart to pick up cat food and they had the people from the Last Chance shelter there.

I saw Newbie and we fell in love with each other. He was such a special boy that I knew he had to come home with me.

all of 3 of my dogs were from "oops" litters but I do plan rescueing all of my future dogs from a shelter. my mom's dog, Ginger she inherited her from her mother when she passed away from cancer in 2003.

Miagi was in a lady's basement and my parents went to get him because the lady could not keep him.

Tiger was found on a highway with another cat and these people rescued him and the other cat from the streets and we went to go meet both of them, because we wanted Miagi to have a buddy of his own species since Buster our hound was getting too big for him to play with
. but ended up with Tiger.
It was love at first sight and I told my mom he's ours when I first saw him. Miagi and Tiger are the first 2 cats in my life and I am very blessed to have them and my dogs in my life.

We'll start in order of who came first.

Well.. on August 10th 2001, I was reading the free paper that came every friday morning. I saw an ad for Free bouvier mix puppies. And I remembered that my mother had said that she really wanted a bouvier since she was a little girl.
So I showed her the ad, and after having a huge talk about that a puppy would be a huge responsibility and that we wouldn't even bring a puppy home unless it was a male and if it was black.
We gave them a call, and sure enough.. there was ONE black male puppy. I was so excited.. I was like.. 14 at the time and had been begging for a dog for probably the past 10 years.
We went to go see him the next day. That was the day I fell in love. I held that little bundle tight all the way home. It was an hour and a half drive there, and again back.
He was only 5.5 weeks old when we got him.. his mum had abandoned hima nd his 9 siblings when they were only 3 weeks old.

Now here we are.. 5 years later.. Apollo is my big baby, I love him so much and wouldnt trade him for the world.

When we moved into the city in october 2003, my brother and his girlfriend bought two tiny kittens from a petstore. They named them Nacho and Orion.
I was up at their apartment everyday, visiting the little buggers. When they found out they were pregnant in January '04, they decided that they needed to give the cats away so they could save their extra money for the upcoming baby.
I offered to take them and find them awesome homes. But after we talked to a few people.. no home seemed good enough.. so they have been with us since then :bightumb:

in June '04.. I got a call from someone.. saying they found two kittens in the grass when they were mowing their lawn.. they said they looked to be around 8 weeks old. I told them to bring them in, and they said that they would, right after they finished mowing the lawn.
So about an hour alter the car pulls in my driveway.. and out steps this lady with a screaming towel. I rushed over to see, and there were three toiny kittens in it.. no more than 4 weeks old. They had found a third one before they finished mowing the lawn.
I had to bottle feed the little buggers. Cute little guys. I named them Poptart, Gordito, and the only little girl, Pigger. Sadly, Pigger passed away about three days after I got her.. she was the first kitten I saw die, but she hasnt been the last. (SPAY AND NEUTER)
Gordito was adopted out into a hoem when he was 8 weeks old... but was returned when he was 11 weeks due t him being 'aggressive'.
After he came back we decided to keep Poptart and Gordito, because they were brothers and we wanted them to stay together.. and not alot of people want to adopt two kittens.

On June 20th of this year.. I was called by the lady who runs the rescue organization I volunteer for.. I heard screaming kittens in the background.. she needed a foster home for 3 little 12 day old kittens.
I had her drop them off right away.. I had the little buggers from the time they were 12 days, till 8 weeks.. then we decided that the one little boy, Cappuccino was supposed to stay with us. Macchaitio and Latte waited for their home.. but they finally got the perfect one three days ago

And thats how I got all my furbabies.. it's probably long, but oh well
