Just wanted to see how everyone got there adorable pets? Got a story you want to share?

I got my oldest cat from my mother-inlaw, she found this big fat lazy cat laying on her door step and knowing she already some cats of her own and could not take on another, i told her i would like to take him home and after a few days of taking my husband into it i finally got to bring the big fellow home. Couldnt of asked for a better cat he is great. And my second is a kitten my husband got me for our 5 year wed anv a few days ago. Something I never thought he would do. Since he is a dog lover. Yep we have a dog too. We rescued her from a animal shelter just a few days before she was going to be put down she had been in the shelter for 2 years of her life and before that was badly beaten, but luckly the lady at the shelter loved her so much she could not bare to put her down so she kept her off the list as long as she could and just by accident she had sent us an e-mail it had gotten forwarded to the wrong e-mail address and we got her pic and info and we made a call and asked if they still had Baby girl and we went the next day to pick her up. She has been a great part of our family and does well with kids so it all worked out great in the end. Now me and my husband have 2 little boys and 2 cats and a dog perfect size family just for us.

No Vacancy...One on the way!
Mikey was supposed to be a gift for my mom. she was in the market to get a male kitten and I wanted to surprise her with the mikey. My goodfriends mother usual has a spring litter every year since for some reason she does not fix her cats. Mikey was the last cat left. Her 8 year old daughter brought him out and when i held him he sat perfectly in my arms....well he didnt make it to my moms house. instead i kept him and never let go.

My snake Khan was a gift for my boyfriend. He hates animals (so he would like everyone to believe) but thought snakes were pretty cool. I did a bunch of research and found ball pythons to be the best fit for us. Although we made the mistake of buying him from a Petco he turned out to be a good guy.He is a great eater and althouh he wasnt a she like we were told and he did have parasites(grrr) and mites (see why i said it was a mistake)he doest try to escape and grows just fine.

Our female snake Lola was a gift for me from me...I wanted a girl snake. We bought her from a breeder and she too is a great snake. she eats well for us, just about any type of rat we give her ,and sheds perfectly. she has a great temperment and doesnt mind being held.

Tj was a feeder rat that was just to damn cute to kill .she was a weanling and now is so used to human contact she just adores me.

Peanut(stewie) is our siamese mix kitten who is the newest addition. his litter was orphaned so i took him, my mom took his sister and then another women took the others. we nursed him since he was about 7-10days old. Hes about 6 weeks and although i did promise to give him away when the time was right....I just cant. he is now a part of our family.

Well I have to start with our gliders since they're how we found Maui...

We got Roxie & Stitch from a couple that were selling their gliders since they didn't realize how much it takes to care for them. I was searching online for Puggles and I came across an ad for some gliders
lol

Ogre & Mona were part of a group of 6 rescues I took in last year. The owner had gone away to college and left them for his parents to take care of. He had originally planned on breeding and making millions
but was soon overwhelmed when he found himself with 6. I adopted out four of them and kept Ogre & Mona

We also had Emmet & Jupiter. Emmet I bought from a breeder 10 hours away! Jupiter I got from a girl that was moving and couldn't take her.

About 2 weeks after Chad & I moved into our new house, Emmet & Jupiter were overcome by stress and (what I think) had a Giardia outbreak and unfortunately both passed within 24 hours.
Needless to say it was very emotional. In order to help eliminate them pooping in their dishes we went up to Petsmart that night to get some water bottles. I always check out the cats they have for adoption in the store so we did - and that's how we found Maui! We went back 3 nights in a row to visit him until Saturday when we could adopt him... I got up there extra early to make sure no one else would take him and it's a good thing I did- there were two other people there that wanted him!!! He's MINE!
So I feel like at least something good came out of poor little Emmet & Jupiter getting sick!

I've shared my story before, but would actually like to share how my best friend got her cat.

She called me tonight and told me that she had gotten a cat about an hour or so earlier. I asked her what it looked like and her response was, "Remember the kitten that showed up at my wedding reception?"

I did. There was a small grey and white patched kitten that had wandered in on her wedding reception and gotten lots of attention and petting. It had also been right in the middle of the cleared path when it was time for her and her husband to be bombarded with rice on the way to their car.

Turns out the little one is a kitten that had shown up at her mom's house 10 miles away and had hitched a ride with a member of the family (we're thinking fell asleep in the back of a truck) to the church.

Her Mom ended up taking it home with her after all was said and done and called my friend tonight now that she's back from her honeymoon and asked if she wanted it. Of course she did!

What a special way to get your first cat, huh?

I am sure I have told everyone how I got my kitties, but I love to talk about them so here I go again

Stanley: My bf at the time was going away for a month to Japan. I had been wanting a cat for a while but my first place wasn't allowed pets and I never really knew if I wanted the responsibility. Then he moved in with me and my need for a cat (someone for company as I was living alone) was gone. But since he was going (he had already been gone for 2 weeks, and was going to leave again shortly after that!) for a month the want came back. So I called up my current landlords, asked and they said a cat was fine. So we went and were only going to look at cats. We went to Petcetera but they didn't have any kittens and he had wanted a kitten. So I begged to just go see at PetSmart. Well we went there and there was Stanley. I immediately fell in love with his colouring and beautiful face. So we called for the person who is in charge of adopting the cats out to come and talk to us. There was also another man there who had wanted Stanley and I was so scared he was going to take him from me. The man then asked (after we had seen Stan and cuddled him for a bit) if I could take him home that day. Well I looked to Kris and he said "if you want him you can have him". So after that we walked around the store with a buggy and picked up everything we need for a cat. I walked out of that store a very happy girl. Everyone was impressed we were adopting an adult cat.

Sadie I rescued from my sisters house. She is a very timid cat, and my sister has two small kids. They would walk up to her and pull on her tail and the usual kid stuff. So she spent a lot of time under their bed. Well the litter box wasn't in there and her hubby worked nights so he liked the door shut for when he went to bed. Unfortunately if Sadie was in there under the bed he couldn't so he would chase her out from under the bed with a broom!! So after a month her hubby was sick of her and wanted to take her back to the SPCA. Well I couldn't let that happen so I have taken her in. She is still very timid (especially since we just moved) but she is such a beautiful cat and is slowly making progress to where she is comfortable around people. Plus Stan absolutely adores her!

I got Lily as a 6 week old kitten. She was feral and my older sister found her tramped in our rock wall. She was so wild when we first got her. She wouldnt let anyone touch her for a long time. Then it was only me that could touch her.

Annie Rose my parents got as a 8 week old kitten from a breeder. I lived with them and her until she was 6 months old. Then I moved out. 2 weeks ago she came to live with me again. My parents didnt want to deal with her pregnancy and her vet bills any more.

I got Kitten after my 16 year old cat Sweetie Pie died. A friend of mine saw her (feral kitten) and decided she would trap her because she looked just like Sweetie. She ended up trapping her when she was 5 weeks old along with her 5 siblings. And then she had me come over and I fell for her. She wasnt to hard to tame down. Now she loves to petted. She still wont let people hold her tough.

Bagheera was a foster that came to me when he was 4 weeks old. He had a huge abcess on his head, was dehydrated and starving. He was only 1 lb (with a stuffed belly) when he should have been closer to 2 lbs. We were all shocked at how thin and sick he was. Me and the vet werent sure if he would pull threw. He turned out to be such a love bug. He never wanted to be put down. He wanted to be held all the time. I tried to distance myself from him because I always swore I would never keep a foster. Well when Bagheera was 14 weeks and he had had no good applications. The group I foster for adopts out orphaned kittens at 8 weeks old. Black kitties dont get homes easily. Everyone who saw him at Adoption Days at Ptesmart thought he was sweet but to plain. Alot of people called him ugly. I was so upset each time he went and sat their watching everyone adopting all the "prettier" kittens and just ignoring poor Gheery. I thought he was one of the prettiest cat's I'd ever laid eyes on. His shiney coal black fur with those big yellowish orange bug eyes looking at you. He was so sweet too. I thought it over and decided he wasnt going any where.

OK, you asked for it, LOL!

We adopted Tigger after we had lost the cat we had for 5 years who got out at night. (Not a good idea in these parts.) Tigger was in a no-kill shelter, and she was 14 years old. Her biography said she was very lonely, and after convincing my husband (worried about the possibility of getting "attached" and losing her too soon) got her that day! That was 2 1/2 years ago!

Elsa was living underneath the trailer where I worked. She would run if she knew people were looking at her.
I fed her for a couple of months, then got to touch her! She got pregnant (of course) and I brought her home on St. Patrick's Day 2005. She had 8 kittens on April 6, 2005, and we did keep one. (more on that later)

Nadette was a birthday present in December 2005 from my husband and daughter. She is the sweetest, most relaxed, non-agressive kitty ever.

Smudge I got because the kitten we kept from Elsa's litter was the kitty in my avatar - a white cat with a blue eye and a green eye. (This is Smudge the First) He died of FIP on October 25, 2005. Very horrible and traumatic, and he was just the COOLEST cat. But on April 6, 2006, (note the date!!!!) a kitten was born after some shaky beginnings, and was named Smudge after my Smudge. This kitten was born to Celestialrags Cattery, and, well, I never thought I'd buy a purebred cat, but here Smudge II is!

Well, thanks for reading this novel! I love rescue kitty stories!

I think there was recently a post with this topic...who knows...

Pwne- from a friend of my boyfriends who decided one day that he didn't want her anymore, then turned around and got another cat shortly after. She is great too I don't know what the guy was thinking.

Da-Ku from a small local pet store who takes in stray litters from random people. He was free when you buy $5 in the store... He is the biggest scardy in the world but my big baby.

Noira- She is currently missing but I got her when my boyfriends old roomate decided to get a kitten and keep it in his room with no food water or litter and got mad when she pooed on and under his bed. So one day I took her. He never even asked for her back. He paid $50 for her too from some pet store.

Bowie- I was watching her and her sister when they were kittens for a day for the neighbor then I never saw them again. They never came back for them.

Kinks- She was a stray. Needed a home so we took her in.

Eliott- I adopted him as an unneutered 7 year old male Himalayan from teh Humane Society. He was completely covered in one big matte over his whole body. He is an angel with a snaggletooth and sits like a frog. His picture is in my avator.

Willoughby- I included him because I love this guy but he was just a stray I found at Walmart. I am currently trying to rehome him. Probably the most loving and apathetic cat I have ever met. I had him all neutered and everything and now he pretty much just lives on my bed sleeping all day long. He is a great babysitter for my kitten I found.

Bexley- The kitten I found 2 weeks ago who currently lives with me until a home is found. Just sitting outside and she came up to me.

India- The very first cat I adopted from the Animal Protective League. She is mine but she lives with my mom.

For anyone who may not know....

Stumpy had been hit by a car at 8 months old and came to the shelter very skinny and with a broken pelvis and tail. She had her tail amputated, and spent 1 1/2 weeks at the shelter recovering, then came to me to foster so she could recover in a home. We fell in love with her and she stayed... That was 3 months ago.

About a month ago she was going crazy from boredom after I started work again, and being very naughty, so we adopted Lily as a friend for her. Lily had been taken to the shelter after she had managed to travel under a car for 30 or so miles and had some feral in her, so got to the shelter very scared and dehydrated. I went to pat her in her cage after everyone said she was ultra shy and scared, and she immediately rubbed up against my hand and purred. I knew she was the one.

Her and Stumpy are now best of friends, and she is less shy every day

W/ the best cats
There is a different story behind each of my animals. But what is common, they were not wanted and needed home. I gave them one.

i think i've toldl this story before, but i like to tell it
so here goes:

i grew up with cats, but the apt i'm in with my bf Rick didn't allow pets, so we never got one. then one day we spent the day downtown shopping, and on the way home, Rick said "how about wonton soup for dinner?" i didn't really want it, and was on the verge of saying i'd rather have something else, but he seemed to really want it, so i said ok. best decision i ever made
We drove up to the resturant, parked, and he went inside to order while I stayed in the car. After a minute I start to hear "meow! meow! MEOW!". I look out my window and there is this gorgeous young tabby cat. I get out of the car so I can take a closer look, and I see that he's really thin. I lean down and pet him and say hi, and he practically jumps into my arms, so I pick him up and pet him. He has no collar, and I can feel his bones. After a minute, I set him down. Now comes the heartbreaking part. As people would walk by us on the sidewalk, he would start to follow them, meowing desperately. When they didnt pay any attention, he'd try someone else. After a few people, he came back to me, and I petted him some more, while I worried about him and tried to think what to do. Then he squirmed to get down, so I let him down, and again, he started following people and meowing desperately. Not ONE person even looked down at him - -they all just ignored him and it just broke my heart - I mean it was obvious he was asking for help. Then my boyfriend came out and I showed him the cat and told him about it, and he said "But we can't have cats". He had a point. Just then, the cat darted across the street, and my heart was in my throat. An old man and young boy were getting in a car. The cat tried to follow the man in the car, and the man ignored him. Then the cat went behind the car, the man got in the car, and I saw his reverse lights come on - at which point I ran across the street and grabbed the cat, and told Rick "I have to take him home. We'll figure out what to do later - I'll take him to a shelter or something - but I can't leave him here. Rick didn't argue, cos he knows me

I was worried about the car ride, but the cat just settled down on my lap and was calm. Once we were home, I put some newspapers in the corner for him to go to the bathroom on (since we didn't have a litterbox) and immediately gave him some water and a can of tuna fish. He wolfed it down like he hadn't eaten in a week. Rick and I decided that I would bring him to the SFSPCA, a no kill shelter, the next day. Meanwhile, the cat finished eating. I was sitting crosslegged on my bed, talking to my bf. The cat hopped up on the bed, came over to me, pushed his way into my lap smelling of tunafish, curled up, and went to sleep. I just looked down at him and grinned...and I knew right then I wasn't bringing him to any shelter.

The next day I went back to where we found him, and looked for any lost cat signs, asked around, and no one had lost a cat. Rick came home that night - and the cat was still there! "I'll take him tomorrow", I promised. Well tomorrow came and went...by this time Rick was falling for him too, so I said "Why don't we just talk to the landlord and see what he says". We ended up having to pay a bit more in rent, but we finally got permission to have a cat
That night, I said "What should we call him - and right as I asked it, it came to me - Wonton! Cos if Rick hadn't wanted Wonton soup that night, we never would have found him.

We brought him to the vet a few weeks later and were told he was fine and healthy, neutered, about a year old. I held my breath while she scanned for a microchip, thinking please don't be owned, please don't be owned - and he didn't have a chip
I was so relieved.

He's a complete love bug... he lives to be either in my lap or Rick's lap. I'm convinced he realizes that we rescued him, and is grateful. When he sees me lay down to go to sleep, be it on the bed or the futon, he always comes over and curls up by my tummy and goes to sleep with me.. he's just my baby
And my bf, who was wary at first, has completely fallen in love with him, of course
I believe Rick got a craving for wonton soup that night for a reason - some things are just meant to be

My family and I were at a park last Summer---just relaxing. When we went towards the creek, we saw a little ball of orange and white fur next to a ball of gray fur.Neither one of them moved. So, DH and I told the kids to go back and play while we looked at the non-moving animals to see what they were and if they were alive. The gray one was gone, there was no life in it.When DH picked up the orange and white one,I held my breath thinking "it" was dead too.Imagine my shock when that little ball of fur started moving and meowing such a faint meow.We knew right then and there that "it" was coming home with us.The kids were so happy that they now had a pet.
"It" turned out to be she and she was so tiny and dehydrated, starved that I thought she wouldn't make it through the night. She did and is now named Blaze. She was only 5 weeks old when we found her.
Neela was a foster for a member here on the site who was looking for a new forever home.I saw her pic and just fell in love with her.We weren't looking for another kit at the time. But, something about her made me want and need to have her.I asked her foster Meowmy about her and after her spay and recoup time, we went and got her.Her name was Alpha, but since my youngest son couldn't say that..........I named her Neela. She was 5 months old when we adopted her.
Corwin was also an adoptee. His previous owner was over whelmed with animals and didn't have the $$$ to care for another animal. So after much thinking about it and talking it over, we decided he needed us also.He was 8 weeks old when we got him.
Bandit our Akita mix pup was a throw away.He and his brothers--a total of 6 pups were throw at our fishing pond to fend for them selves.DH and I went to town and saw a pup that someone had hit and it was dead on the side of the road.We didn't think to look for others. So, later that day, coming back home I happened to glance that way as we passed.I hollered for my DH to stop and go back cause I saw something. That something turned out to be 5 pups.We were able to catch all of them fairly easy EXCEPT Bandit. He was so skidish that it took us 20 mintues to catch him and then he screamed like we were hurting him.We put them in the back of DH's truck and I rode back there with them.
We were NOT in any shape or form looking for a pup/dog for our family. My son was bitten by our Cocker Spaniel 7 months prior to that and he was TERRIFIED of dogs(I placed that dog into a rescue). So, the thought of keeping one NEVER crossed our minds.UNTIL our kids came home from school and my son that wouldn't even go around small pups, walked right up to Bandit and patted his head.We were stunned!!
So, needless to say, Bandit then became part of our family right then and there and he has helped my son get over his fear of dogs!!He has been such a blessing to our family, that I thank God every day we went back and had patience enough to wait and catch him.

Our orphan babies aren't with us any more, but I wanted to share thier story to help tell how wonderful Bandit is. My oldest son went out to feed and water Bandit and started screaming to come outside.I thought my dog was dead or hurt.Boy was I in for a shock!!
There inside my pups dog house was 6 little heads.Someone had either dropped off 6 3 1/2 to 4 week old kits and he found them.Or they were a strays kittens and he found them.He had some how KNOWN to put them in his dog house until his Mommy could find them.He was thier "Angel" because without him finding them and keeping them in his house, I wouldn't have found them and cared for them.

well, about before xmas, i was bored, and little lonely, the wife had just gone back to indo to take care some some business for a few months. So i went to petsmart to get some fish.

well as i walked past i had to look at the cats.well i know i shoudl not get one, since we keep trying to get my visa back. But i saw this little black head resting on the edge of the litter box all you could see was just the eyes.

she had such a no one loves me look, so i will just sit in my poop box

i looked at her story, said she had been found with several other kittens running the street, and had been in bad shape, she was the last one left of the group that came in with her. she was and still is such a tiny little thing, i could not leave here there in a cage. so that is how heyu came home with me,

oh yea, i forget to get the fish
