So I was petting my kitten and i noticed a thing behind his ear. First I thought it was some sort of a crumb or something stuck in his fur from rolling around etc, but it wasn't in the hair, i removed the hair to see what it was, it looks like a tiny little dark dot (tick maybe?), I was wondering what it could be and how I can remove it?

I've had him for 5days, he's 13weeks old, and he's an indoor cat. Though I don't know if the breeder had them outside at anytime (I would guess so since they were de-wormed 3 weeks before I got him)

If it is that small, it is more than likely a flea.

At 13 weeks he is old enough for a topical flea prevention from his veterinarian (frontline, advantage, Revolution). Don't buy anything over the counter, they can be extremely toxic.

Yeah it's small for a tick, it might be a flea, don't really know, will have to take him to the vet sometimes this week, get his 2 vaccines and checked. I thought at first he might of have scratched himself or something..., will have to recheck it tomorrow (daylight) see for sure.

I've seen really small ticks on myself. I acutually mistook it for a mole at first until I realized it had legs! I could barely even feel it when I brushed my hand across my skin. So it could be a tick.

I could also just be a little scab. I know my mom pulled what she thought was a tick off of her dog before, turns out it was just a tick shaped scab! If you do decide it is a tick, soak a cotton ball in alcohol and hold it over the tick for about 30 sec. Then take a pair of tweezers as close to the skin as possible and pull that sucker out. You do this to make sure the head isn't left inside the skin. Then what I always do is burn the ticks with a match or lighter. You can't smash them. HTH!

Another thing that you may find on him that is suggestive of fleas is flea "dirt". It looks like specks of pepper, and is actually flea poo. Sometimes you may see that, sometimes you won't.

Good luck at the vet appointment this week.

I hope it's nothing, but as I said above, I'll check it carefully tomorrow. And thank you for the tip, never really seen nor removed a tick before. And I thought in my head "if it's a tick and i pull it out I'm going to smash the hell out of it" funny you said it didn't work, hehe burning will work fine though, satisfy me just as well
