I have two cats. Kitty is 4 years old and weighs 6 pounds. She is naturally very petite. The vet says she is a normal weight. Jasper is a big boy at around 14 pounds. He could lose a few.

I feed Felidae dry and have recently started to add wet food into their diet. I choose a random selection of high quality wet food for them to taste test. So far they are really liking Natural Balance.

I do not want to switch to a diet food for Jasper because Kitty must eat out of the same bowl he does and she really should not lose any weight. She also likes to nibble all day long so there is always food in the dish which I think he takes advantage of.

Does anyone have any suggestions that would help Jasper lose weight and Kitty maintain her same weight?

I've seen it suggested in the past to cut a small hole in an overturned box so only small Kitty can get in and keep her food in there. Then you can put Jasper on scheduled feedings so he only gets what he should have.
Good Luck!

First of all you have to feed them in separate bowls, in separate rooms. They will learn to adjust. Put down a set amount for the overweight one and do not allow the other to eat any of it. Same thing for the skinny one - feed her separately and do not allow the bigger one to help himself.

If that means feeding the skinny one an extra meal or two - do it, but only put the food down for her for 15 mins. After that take it up and wait a few hoursk, offer it again. She will learn to eat when its given her.
