This beautiful curly cats!
I love this breed.
They have fantastic kind nature, soft curly hairs and sweet faces.
They like sleep in our bed, on our knees...they like funny teddy bears
with curly hairs.
They love hands and never angry, never biting and scratching!
They my sweet little sheeps!

The Selkirk Rex is a breed of cat with highly curled hair, including the whiskers. Unlike the Devon Rex and Cornish Rex, the hair is normal length and not partly missing, and there are longhair and shorthair varieties.
Also unlike the other Rexes, the Selkirk gene is dominant.

The Selkirk Rex originated in USA, Sheridan, state Montana in 1987, with a cat named Miss DePesto, who was bred to a Persian, producing three Selkirk Rexes and three straight-haired cats. It is a large and solidly built breed, similar to a British Shorthair but with a characteristic curled coat. The coat has a woolly look and feel.
American Shorthairs, Persians, Exotics and British Shorthairs have been used as out crosses to develop this breed. The American Shorthair has now been discontinued as a breeding partner. In Australia Persians, Exotics and British are accepted out crosses until 2015.

Selkirk Rex have two varieties of they hair.
Shorthair and Longhair.
They are accepted in a wide variety of colors and patterns, including colorpoint. The coat should be soft and curly, with "random" curling rather than a patterned wave or marcelling pattern typical of the other Rex breeds.

They look like dolls !!! The Longhair Selkirk Rex, how often do they have to be brushed ? I have a curly haired dog and you have to do daily brushings or it matts. Is that the same with Longhair Selkirk Rex ?

I happen to know the people behind the CurlyBurly Cattery - they are based in Hong Kong and their current show cats are having a good run In CFA ID Asia - if I'm not mistaken one of their cats is up for DW status for CFA year ending 2007! Wonderful cats!
