I have 2- 5 month old kittens. In the morning and evening they share a 3oz. pouch of wet food. They always have dry food available if they get hungry in between feedings.

I think this sounds ok, but I wanted to know what everyone else thinks. Should I be feeding them more wet food?

Also, if I was to take them off of dry food completely, how much wet food should they be getting and how many times a day?

AT 5 months old they are still kittens and probably pretty active so the free feeding of dry should be ok. I think it might be good to add a 3 oz. pouch in the evening too. It certainly wouldn't be too much.

I think you are doing things just fine. I wouldn't keep them on kitten food for too much longer though, maybe until 6-8 months, 9 at the most...as long as it is a high quality cat food you switch them too and not grocery store crappy brands. All wet food is really good and healthy. As kittens though I would continue free feeding dry at the same time though.

Why would you take them off of it? Most kitten foods recommend being fed until the cat is a year old [and fully mature].

As far as feeding it depends what you're feeding. Most cat foods have a feeding amount they "recommend". What you're doing now is fine. if you switch them to wet it depends on how active they are, and how big they are. I have a 9lb cat and he eats two wet pouches a day[I think they are 3oz.] and that's enough for him. He's been eating that amount since he was young [he's a year now]. You might do like 2-3 pouches per cat, just because they are still young and growing. If they seem to be gaining weight, you can always change the amount you're giving them.
