does anyone know if it may take more than once to deworm a kitten, i have one 5 months old that has tapeworm again, after being given a worming pill by the vet at a little over 3 months old. They had given him a Drontil pill for the worms and said that would take care of it, and now at almost 5 months old have noticed them again. Just wondering how often you can get them wormed, and if it may take more than one dose of medication.

One way to stop the infestation is to use frontline or advantage on your cat.Tapeworms are caused by fleas, they jump on the cat, cat bites the flea and swallows it and cat has worms again.

My vet told me that the deworming medicine only kills the adult worms, so any eggs that may be in your kitty's system will develop and may not be killed if the medicine has already passed out of the system. I would take your kitty back to the vet. My vet sent my kitten home with one month worth of medicine to be sure and kill any eggs that will continue to develop, to be taken once a week. Also you may need to treat your house for fleas or where ever your kitty might be getting them from.
