trying to find out something

Okay Tavia sheds alot. And I am hoping better quality food will stop that but what I also want to know is how often should I brush her. She has short hair but its thick kind of. It feels like a plush toy fur or something. I am not sure how to describe it. But I want to know how often I should brush her to help curve some of the effect of hair everywhere. Its bad enough I find my hair everywhere. That and she seems to like being brushed. She has one of those double sided brushes. One side is wire bristled and the other isn't. It is the soft material that's close together. Is this a good brush for her.

I brush my shorthairs every other day during heavy shedding, and once a week otherwise.
I use nothing but Zoom Groom

I switched my cats from Purina One to Royal Canin because one of my cats sheds alot and it did not help. The cat that sheds alot is brushed once to 3 times a week. I think just some cats shed more than others.

A Zoom Groom is a rubber brush. There's a picture of one at this link: http://www.thecatconnection.com/Zoom-Groom-Brush.html

The brush you have sounds fine. You might want to use the wire bristle side first to remove loose hair, then switch to the softer side to smooth down her coat. You can brush as often as you like. I brush one of my cats daily, because she loves it.

Much gets it once or twice a day because she demands it. Carly gets it about every couple of days. Lucy just avoids the brush. We try to get all three of them each day just to keep the hairballs down.
