My boyfriend and I just moved to a new house and we took all 7 cats with us. 5 are adults and 2 are 4 month old kittens. We have never had issues with the cats messing outside the litterbox, except for maybe one week a year ago, one of our newer additions had peed on our guest bed, but he was sick at the time so i cant really fault him.

So we moved and bought a nice new expensive couch. I love this couch, its my dream couch. Anyway the other night after i had gone to bed, my boyfriend walked into the living room and saw a wet spot on the couch, it was pee. We dont know which cat peed on the couch, only one of our adult cats was in the room when my boyfriend saw this, but that doesnt mean that that cat actually did the deed. It could have been one of the kittens but we have only had one incident of one of the kittens peeing on a dog bed but that was when the kitten was a lot younger.

So anyways now im worried it will happen agian. My boyfriend scoups the boxes every night, we have 5 boxes throughtout the house and the cats always use them except this one time.

Also I have drowned my couch in natures miracle, I used up a whole bottle pratically, but you can still smell the pee. How can I get that smell off? Ive let the natures miracle soak into the couch and i made sure to spray it in the couch cracks as well. Ive also febreezed the couch to death, but nothing seems to take the lingering smell away.

Help!

I can tell you this, take orange peels and rub them along the bottom of the sofa, or along the arms, the cats will AVOID it 100% as far as the smell, Im not sure ,can you take the covers off the cushions? if its in the foam you have a problem for sure....

Well I was going to mention Natures Miracle. I cannot believe it didn't work...

You could try Nok-Out which I found to work wonderfully but I believe you have to order it online. I like it a lot though.

Oh I almost forgot. Buy some Feliway plug ins and put them through out your house.

If you can figure out which cat did it, I would take it to the vet to be checked for a UTI.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will definitly try the oragne trick this morning.

I cant believe that natures miracle didnt work either, I've been using it for years and absolutly love it, but for some reason it doesnt want to take the smell out of my new couch

Sydney, I'm sorry the Nature's Miracle didn't work. I love that stuff, but I've found that it also didn't work on my new couch. It is sort of a micro-suede material. Is that what yours is? Maybe it just won't work on that. I've done multiple treatments and still nothing.

Call the company that makes the couch and see of they will replace the foam, thats where the odor is sitting, and it will crystalize on the underside of the fabric if you dont take it off and clean both sides. Foam is cheap you can take the old piece to a fabric store and have them cut/order you a new one, unless its like super expensive and has stuffing and coils....
