Help with my little Persian! - Page 2

Gold eye color can change to the proper color - remember you have kittens with blue and if you mix "yellow" in the blue, you'd have greenish, so it is the inbetween stage with the off color eyes - your cream has the proper nice gold eye color now
post #32 of 55
Yes, I have noticed some kittens I thought would have greenish-gold eyes turn more of a copperish-gold. These were moggies, but their eye color does deepen I think, as they get older.

I think shes perfect and I'm sure you love her alot! Enjoy her..
I've seen doll faced Persians going for $300-400. They are quite common if you look for them on the internet. Just type "doll face cattery" and see what you get...And go on Hoobly or the other internet classifieds and look for Persian kittens...most of them on there are dollfaced.

I'd say your Persian is purebred, too. I've seen purebred Persians with less type than your furbaby.

I don't know much about persians other then a thread I seen on this site that showed the evolution of the old doll face style persians to the more modern show style. Your beautiful kitty looks like the pictures of the persians before they began to be altered.

She is sooooo beautiful, and looks so hugeable! I'm glad she is doing well.

I just wanted to say she is a cutie pie!!!
Also, NOT ALL pets from a pet store have health problems!! I bought a purebred Cocker Spaniel from a pet store and he had NO problems what so ever. Not sick a day in his life.Sadly, he got out of our fence and was hit by a UPS.
With Petstores, breeders, and shelters..............you can never be 100% sure that you will not have genetic problems or health problems. You just love them for the wonderful furbaby that they are and pray they are healthy.

Persians can have different eye colors just as other cats do (except for the point persian). I have 3 full bred persians and one half persian kitten and they all have different color eyes. There is information on the CFA website you can look up if you're interested. (I'd find a link for you but am on my way to work.) Your cutie's face looks to be between a doll face and domestic cat as far as shape. The nose is just slightly more pronounced. Pretty close to the old, traditional persians. Those stocky legs are persian. What a cutie she is! To be honest... I wouldn't even worry whether or not she is full bred persian, if she were mine (as I know you aren't). Doesn't really matter unless someone wanted to breed or show as a pure bred. She's a doll and I just want to hug her!

While price of a cat in no way has anything to do with a loved pet's emotional value to it's owner, I agree with Scamperfarms. I've never seen a doll face for $1000 or more. The ones I see are anywhere from $50 to a couple hundred and they are more common then I realized. (I have both peke and doll).

Her coat is beautiful and thick. It is a little shorter but may get longer as she gets a little older. Heck... I wish mine had naturally a little shorter fur coat! I have to vacuum at least once a day and keep a cover on my bed that I take off when I go to sleep!

Thank you SO very much, everyone! I was in real need of pro help and you've all been exceedingly nice I appreciate all your info and opinions, as I said, having a purebred holds no importance to me at all, Babycheeks is as cute as a button and we love her to death no matter what
post #38 of 55
First off I love your baby!! If you go to this website from this reputable breeder she has dollfaced...look a lot like yours and they are from $1200-3000depending on color and eye color!!!Her kittens are beautiful just like your kitty!!!

Regarding the eye color. My cat is purebred persian, and his eyes, when he was young, were exactly the color your kitten's eyes are. Now his eyes are bright copper. Your kitten is still young, and they eyes will change.

Then:

Now:

It's completely normal. The eyes change. My kitten had the exact same color eyes your kitten had, when he was little. My cat has papers, so I am absolutely positive he is purebred. When I got him at 10 weeks, he had eyes very similar to yours, and now his eyes are bright copper, as they should be.
Your kittens eyes are completely appropriate for the persian cat. I don't know if your kitten is purebred, but you can not say if she is purebred or not based on her eye color, because it is what it should be.

I don't really see why they thought this kitten was a persian. It does not resemble one at all.And a pet shop should know this.If it was me I would go back and let them know and ask for money back!
It most definetly looks like a persian. Wether purebred or not, I don't know, but its' definetly at least a persian mix.
It also looks very similar to what my purebred Persian kitten looked like when I first got him. If I can find an old photo of him, I would post it.

It's a kitten. They get furrier as they grow. Mine looked exactly like this one, and he is purebred with papers.
This is his picture when he was 10 weeks old. Please notice eye color. Exactly as with the babycheeks kitten. It changed to brilliant copper now. Although mine might be more furry, I think. But some persians are more furry than others, even purebred ones. I have two, and this one is more furry than my other one.

OMG!!!That looks just like Babycheeks, it's the cutest thing in existence! Thank you for the advice too, that will definitely improve her self esteem
post #47 of 55
Yes, babycheeks and my persian look very much alike. Mine is registered with papers, so I know he is 100% persian. I don't think that anybody can say if babycheeks is purebred because she does not have papers, but she definetly at least a persian mix.
This is another picture of him.

OMG so darn cute! I just love those little faces! You know... I like both the peke face and the doll face but I have to say that my poor jake has a lot of sinus problems because of his peke face and I feel bad for him. I think it's kind of a shame that the show standard has opted for the modern, man made persian look.

Oh I am so with you on that..I think they would be so much healthier Doll faced! My Sev isn't really pushed in but he has issues!
Excuse my ignorance. Is peke face and doll face the same thing?
Peke faces I believe are extremely flat the term coming from the Pekenese dog and the dollfaced persian tend to have a less extreme face and more of a nose.

You really need to put some sort of warning up when you post links to such cuteness... I nearly fell out of my chair.
