Hello all, our kitten is doing good, still has the craziness when he gets the bottle, but ive added some pureed baby food (turkey) with it as someone said and he seems to be eating less but more often, so i assume he is filling up a little quicker. My questions are, Ive noticed on lots of sites that they say his ears should open all the way or perk up all the way about now (3 weeks or so) im not technically sure how old he is. We have had him now for almost 4 weeks tomorrow. his ears are not completely up. im not sure if they are open, but he does seem to notice some noises. just wondering if this could be a problem or maybe hes just a slow one. Also hes had some mucous on one eye for about 2 days or so. ive taken a kleenex and put it in some warm water and wiped it away, i just wasnt sure if maybe i should contact a vet about this. he is starting to play, nibble and swat at our fingers. i havent yet started him in the litter box, i want to introduce him to soft food at the same time. im going to try that this weekend.

It's always a good idea to get your little one to see a vet if you are concerned. That way, the vet can also do a general check up and you can schedule the first shots etc.

I know with my kittens their ears stood straight almost immediately from birth but their ears didn't open for a couple weeks. I wonder if your kitten is showing signs of folded ears? The Scottish Fold is the main example of a cat with folded ears and there is nothing wrong with it, just a genetic abnormality. If the ears dont' straighten I would say it could be a possibility as it is considered a genetic mutation...

well his ears are mostly straigh but kind of stick out to the side instead of exactly up. and the very top of them are still folded down. Its actually really cute, but as long as nothing is wrong with him then i dont mind.
