Scratch has what I like to call silver darts under his front legs. When he sits on his rump you can see two little tufts of silver fur in all of his black. My question is, do you think some of this silver fur is going to spread? I've noticed more and more lately that some of this silver fur is showing up on his belly, but none is showing on his back.

My deepest apology if this makes no sense. I haven't had much coffee yet.

There's no way to know for sure, but it could spread as he gets older. How old is he?

I have no idea - it almost sounds like he's a smoke - with the white undercoat showing.

Flip the coat on the back/sides and see if its white/silvery looking or is it black to the roots.

It's silvery gray under all the black. I keep trying to get a picture of it but he won't sit still long enough for me to take it.

A smoke usually has more white, but it could be a poor quality smoke with the more silver/grey look. I know in cornish rexes, smokes do NOT have the normal white undercoat - its almost always silver/grey. Rexes don't have undercoats to begin with. I've never seen a black smoke rex with the proper color.
