Sigh. Another chapter in my kittens' health. This is the third Monday in a row where I've had to call them about another problem.

At first we though Lily (~5 months old) was getting chubby and I was going to limit the dry food. But then we noticed that she's only fat in the belly and it looks more like some sort of swelling or bloat than a typical fat kitty. I figured it was worms, even though the shelter did worm both of the kittens. So I called the vet this morning and they had us bring in stool samples for testing. They didn't find worms, they found coccidea. But the vet wasn't sure if that would cause Lily's bloated belly. She said to do the coccidea treatment and bring her in if it continues to get worse.

So I'm wondering if anyone else has seen kittens with coccidea get bloated bellies. They do not have diarrhea and they eat lots. Eve is typical kitten-hyper despite being treated for a URI, and we think her belly might be just starting to swell a little. Lily has always been more subdued and we're hoping that's not from being ill this whole time.

I don't really have an answer for you, just my experience:

When my kitten had coccidia, he started losing weight, and I didn't notice any bloating.

Hang in there; I'm sure someone will be along with more info.

Hope Lily is feeling better soon!
