To cut a long story short, I took Bella to the vets last weekend because she was limping a little bit. The vet found a scab on her left front paw indicating that there had been a wound but it was already healing. He gave her a couple of shots of antibiotics just in case...

Today, I noticed that Bella was hopping on 3 legs. I called the vets but can't get in to see them til tomorrow morning. Her pad is quite red and swollen and I really am quite worried. Is there anything I can do tonight to make her more comfortable? She seems happy in herself but is refusing to calm down and is insisting on rushing around after Cindy... Oh yes, she she keeps licking the pad...

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Poor Bella

I'm taking it your vets don't do a 24 hour emergency clinic?. What about another surgery or would you rather see your own?

If she's running around after Cindy that's one good sign, and tomorrows not that far away.

Hi Susan

Our surgery do have a 24 emergency clinic but it's in London! To be honest with you, I would prefer Bella to be seen by our regular vet and as you say, tomorrow's not far away now.. As I said, she seems happy in herself - it just breaks my heart to see my baby hopping around

Yes. She's quite happy to let us examine her paw although she doesn't like it if we hold onto her paw for too long

where are you in Kent? I'm in tunbridge wells and we have a 24 hour clinic called Dacre House they have info on the web here. http://www.any-uk-vet.co.uk/dacre/index.htm

if that's not close enough for you that website is great to find a closer one! good luck.

ocicat_steph, thanks for the link
I'm based in Dartford..

Update on Bella - the x-rays showed nothing in the paw so she's being treated with anti inflammatory tablets twice a day and we have to bathe her paw daily for the next 7 days. She's going back for a check up on Tuesday - fingers crossed, this is the end of it.

Already she is showing much improvement - she's still limping a bit but she's no longer hopping

Thanks again for all your support guys!
