I feel darft writing this but we think Billy is trying to mate with max

He keeps getting ontop of Max and grabing the scruff of his neck. Isn't that what a male would do to a female?

What can I do? Please help me.

Ok, They haven't been neutered yet but Billy's kittens would look nice if he did mate.
But we don't want him to mate with any other cats. lol

Does everyone else think it's a dominance issue?

I'm just getting a bit worried because he's walking around the house making this little noises and my old female cat used to do that when she was on heat.

Its my understanding too that this is a dominance issue. My 3 year old neutered males do this on occasion as well.

If they are both neutered, then its just a dominance thing and won't hurt - tho it's embarassing to us humans.

However, if they are not, then it could be sexual related. You need to have them neutered very soon or you will have more problems of aggression and also they will start trying to get out and find females as well as start spraying in the house.

They aren't neutered yet but they are both having a vet check tomorrow to see if they are both ok to be neutered asap.

Hello- can someone tell me what to look for when a male is attracted to a female? We just rescured a female cat (3 mos) and our 1 yr old neutered male is trying to jump on her and grabbing her by the neck and holding on- we dont know if this is because he aroused by her smell or dominance.

Yes! Every cat I've owned has done this, and it's never been sexual. I've had combinations of: 2 girls, 2 boys, and one of each.

Your male is trying to tell the new female that he's in charge at your house. Expect this kind of behavior until they sort out their hierarchy.

Currently at my house, I have a 1 year old female, and a 5 month old male. Leo became part of the family about 2 1/2 months ago, and he and Lilly still wrestle around trying to settle dominance issues. As long as there's no blood being drawn, it's normal cat behavior.

I agree with this post. Since they are not neutered already, it probably is more sexual in nature.

I would have them both neutered ASAP to avoid them trying to escape/start spraying and/or having agression problems.

hi,
i would say that if it was to males(or 2 females) than it is a dominance issue(dogs do it to) however if its the opposite sex and one or both HAVENT been neutered than is a sexual thing i would get them neutered asap as female cats dont have periods of high fertilaty as they are induced ovulaters (body releases an egg when male mounts) therefor females can become pregnant very easily. I would deffinatly get them neutured
