Yes! Every cat I've owned has done this, and it's never been sexual. I've had combinations of: 2 girls, 2 boys, and one of each.
|Hello- can someone tell me what to look for when a male is attracted to a female? We just rescured a female cat (3 mos) and our 1 yr old neutered male is trying to jump on her and grabbing her by the neck and holding on- we dont know if this is because he aroused by her smell or dominance.
Your male is trying to tell the new female that he's in charge at your house. Expect this kind of behavior until they sort out their hierarchy.
Currently at my house, I have a 1 year old female, and a 5 month old male. Leo became part of the family about 2 1/2 months ago, and he and Lilly still wrestle around trying to settle dominance issues. As long as there's no blood being drawn, it's normal cat behavior.
