This cat is a complete love to me and any female friend around. But other than the first initial introduction to MacKenzie and her kittens, which went well, everything else is going downhill. And forget about men, he wants nothing to do with them.

I put him outside in the Hospitality cage today to see what the others are going to think of him, and he just about killed himself trying to attack the cats when they came up to the cage to have a sniff.
Even mellow Kahuna got the agression treatment from him. I have the word out for a place for him where he will be the only cat and that should be wonderful for him, if I can find such a place. But he attacked MacBethie this morning when she snuck into his room and I cannot have such an agressive kitty here with all the other cats. I will continue to put him into the outdoor cage to hopefully let him know the cats around him are friendlies, but he would be a lot better off being the only kitty in the home. This behaviour is typical of an abused kitty, but his temper fuse is short and he is quick to strike. Poor guy.

Oh Hissy - what a horrible life he has had to make him so aggressive even to other kitties! I will send mellow thoughts your way for Beetle!

Poor Mr Beetle
Sounds like he does need to be an only cat. I'm glad he has you to take such good care of him and find him an approptiate home!

I put him out in the cage again last night as it was fairly warm and all the cats were home. When I went to release him (I only keep him in there for 20 minutes at a time) As I really don't like to put cats in cages, he got away from me and scooted under the house!

I got down on my belly and crawled after him and there were 6 cats under the house in seconds. He was fine with them, not one fight, hiss, snarl or attack. I laid there and watched them all sniffing at him and stuff and he was calm as toast. I wouldn't of been able to do anything if he had attacked because he was way over on the other side of the house by this time.

When I called to him, he came right over to me and head bumped me, so I picked him up and took him inside. His aggression (I think) was caused by being caged up and I believe he is going to be a good addition to this family. He is staying!

Bless the little chap. He must have a lot of scars and hang-ups. It'll be ages before you'll know exactly what he's Ok with and what not.

Hissy - if anyone can do it - you can. The babe just needs some calm and stability.

I guess it's must a matter of trying lots of things and eliminating those that freak him out.

Good luck.

I've had this experience as well... I've always thought that it was caused by the cat being stressed because he/she had no way to "escape" an attack in the cage.

Poor love... he must have had an incredibly hard life. He's so lucky to have found you.

What a relief!

Hissy, your life with cats was a real roller-coaster last week, with Trip missing and Bettle fighting. I'm so glad everything is settling down.

Here's to a few weeks of kitty calmness and no crises!!!
