All the acorns and what not are starting to fall in my yard, and the squirrels are already digging up my yard with little holes, storing their nuts for the winter...........I don't really mind, but I just think it's kind of early?!

LOL Susie, you and your thread titles!

I have no nuts, as my tree is a maple with whirlygigs.

The squirrels are definitely active here, but we only have the helicopters (aka whirlygigs) in our yard.

Maybe winter is coming early???

We've noticed the squirrels have been a lot more active-haven't seen them actually "harvesting any thing" yet but some of our early maples have started to have a tint of color

Our Oak tree is nortmally striped of acorns by the end of october, dependiong on how hot the summer was they get ripe earlier if its hot. We also have chipmunks collecting apples from out tree it's funny to watch one running down the street with an apple the size of it's head

LOL before they sold their house, my mom had squirrels that bartered for apples.
They'd take apples and leave her half eaten tomatoes and flowerbulbs (no clue where the tomatoes came from).

Nuts??? There are no nuts around here!!! Just lunatics!

Yes, I have noticed the squirrels and chipmunks running around with nuts in their mouths - there must be a chestnut tree around here somewhere because that's what they look like! Actually, the critters around here are quite clever. I think they pay the doves to sit on the bird feeder and sway it back and forth. The little devils sit underneath the feeder and gather up the seed as it drops. I wonder how much they are paying the doves!

In a state of insanity :)
I don't know about nuts
around here but the squirrels are eating sweet gum balls here. They are eating so much of them they make a total mess of my car. Then I have to clean things off when I go to drive it cause I can't see out the window.
