Hello everyone! We are adopting an adorable little kitten on Monday. She is from a stray cat that gave birth to 5 kittens at my parent's house. The kitten is about 5 weeks old, and is very playful and loves being petted.

We have never owned a cat before! What should we buy? We have one room to introduce Satu to in our condo, we will get a litter box and train her (HOW?!) and we want to make her experience as easy as possible.

Help, what basic things should be do to prepare for Satu's arrival?

Here's a picture of her ^^

welcome to you and satu.basic things you will need is a comfy bed,a luandry basket with a blanket in. flat based bowls.kitten food.cat milk which is low in lactose,as she cant have cows milk.cat toys for stimulation. and LOTS of love.to get her using the litter tray keep placing her in it,if she gose toilet outside the box a firm"no" then put her in the tray.its a matter of patience, she is very young still.most of all ENJOY her...and relax a bit.oh..and allways leave a dish of water 24/7. hope this helps. let us know how she gets on....actually id leave her wiyh mom cat untill she is 7 weeks old if poss,or shell be missing moms milk is she fully weaned? (eating solids).

Welcome!

I agree with shelleybik about letting the kitten stay with mommy a bit longer until she's weaned. She's quite adorable by the way.

You can also read the TCS forums specifically on kittens to get more advice.

Congrats on your little kitty, I wont have mines for a few months yet!

I have found this forum a real blessing, I have spent hours researching different types of food, what litter to use, and how to deal with bad kitty behaviour!!!

She is adorable - but way too young to be rehomed, she needs to be with mum for a minimum of 8 weeks, and preferably 10, even if she is weaned and toilet trained now (mum does that incidentally), as they learn a lot of manners and behaviours off mum and siblings.
