Tomorrow I go in for a job interview with a company that I interviewed with several months ago. At that time, I was one of the top two they wanted to hire, but I lost out to someone with "more experience."
I received an email on August 1 from the HR Manager of said company, asking if I was still looking or interested, so of course I said yes!
This job would not only allow me to do what I actually went to college for and LOVE, it will also bring in more money, and it won't have the political "good 'ol boys" club feeling as well as the "look out for #1 and screw the other guy" attitude my current job has. Actually, it's not my current job that has that issue, it's the entire department. We currently have an Interim CIO, and Interim Associate Vice President (AVP) of Research Computing, an Interim AVP of Security, and two Interim Executive Directors of Infrastructure, all appointed in the last six months. People are stealing the life boats and I want to hitch a ride before the ship sinks!
The company I'm going to interview with tomorrow has a relaxed attitude, you can wear jeans to the office, and after a month of commuting 1 hour each way, I'll most likely be working from home (YAY!). My dream is to work from home, so when I have children I won't have to spend lots of money on daycare, and I won't have to put my career on hold.
So, after all that, I really, really, REALLY want this job. The HR Manager told me that she was my biggest fan and when the manager called and said they'd chosen someone else, she told me (sincerely) that she really hopes an opportunity comes along so she could work with me (I think this is her last chance, lol). They truly did keep my resume.
