Hey ya'll. I was just woundering how long a cat can/will use a scratching post. My two cat's scratching post is all towrn apart, not to bad, but its getting there, we've had it oh, maybe nine or ten months. So basicly, does anyone thow out their old post when it gets to worn out or whatever, tell me ur thoughts.

If it's just the carpeting that's looking ratty vs the actual post itself being broken, I would just "reupholster" it with some new carpet (seems like a cheaper alternative if you have access to a staple gun).

I have replaced the scratching part of the post in the past. By the way, Zoe looks like my cat Greycat, only because I could not come up with anything more original.

You can probably get replacement rope (it's usually sisel) at any hardware or home renovation place like Home Depot. You could attach it to the post with a hot glue gun.
