If you need to keep a cat in or out of a room where there is a need for air circulation or perhaps there is no door....

Try TWO baby gates the old fashioned kind with the square grids. One right on top of the other. My parents do this to keep an adult cat out of the tv room when they aren't at home because she pees on the carpet all of the time. I haven't hear that any of the four adult cats have knocked it down yet.

What I found to be cheaper than baby gates and very simple to install was a new door cut-down to just above the second hinge/door knob. This allows air circulation and sounds of the house to enter with the little ones, however keeps the larger cats out of the kitten's room.

I was able to purchase a cheap door at Lowes for $26 + tax then took a skil saw and cut down to size. I am sure that the friendly people at Lowes would be happy to cut-down in store if you didn't have tools at home.

Less than 2 hours from thought to door installed and all I need to do is swap hardware to original quality door once kittens are old enough to run the house.
