So I am in the marching band as a flag twirler and today we had a performance in front of every single teacher in the district. (about 400-500 people) and the marching band was going to perform a few songs on the stage and the guard were scattered in the isles of the audiance and we were supposed to be doing some routines there. well the isles were not that wide at all so we had to do our routine facing side ways and when i did one of the moves that went behind our backs i whacked 3 teachers really hard in the head and you could hear the audience went "OH!" i was so humiliated that i just stood there like an idiot for the rest of the routines.

Hey - that teacher should not have been near you!!!
At least that will teach her or him to stay at least 4 feet from the majorettes!!

(PS our high school majorette got a HUGE wedgy during a performance one time. Talk about em-bar-assing!)

Aww I'm sorry...it's been awhile but a few Mother's Days ago I was working at the Country Club and busing one of my tables. Well the tray accidently tipped over and whacked the mother at the table in the back of the head lol. I was mortified. It's bad enough to whack someone in the head but to do it to a mom on mothers day haha. So I know how you feel. It's times like these I wish we could hit the rewind button

Or you can just laugh and say "I wish I had that on video so I could send it into a "funniest video show"

It was bad judgement on someone's part( not yours) to have audience that close to flag twirlers in the first place.

much hugs and loves.

that is exactly what i said to the guard director. i told her "we need a bit more than 3 or 4 feet of space to do flag work" and all she said was that i should have stayed in my plane (meaning doing flagwork flat against your body)

all the other girls in guard agree. i wasnt the only one that hit someone and alot of the girls were hitting people's chairs too.

It's alright! I did colorguard for 2 yrs, and while i never hit anyone with my flag, aside from an overweight tuba player with a mullet who was being a jerk- hehe, the guy had it comming)...i did smack myself in the nose a few times with a rifel and a saber
. You'll be embaressed for a while, but eventually you'll learn from this experience and you'll be much better at colorguard because of it. You'll laugh about it later on...it'll be alright. And if anything, you learned a lesson in humility, and perifial vision
. Those are good things
/ Also i do have a suggestion for you, next time you're practicing your routine, when you're doing work behind your pack, practice with your back against a wall outside...that way you learn to control your movements and while it's difficult, you'll eventually aviod hitting as much things and it will help you stay in your plane. I recommend doing windmills and such to start off with when you're practicing against a wall....it'll be easier to start with than more tricky moves. Also, you'll learn how to judge the distances around you better. This is comming from someone who's colorguard instructer would blindfold her and make her do quads and triples on eveything...sabers, rifels, flags...to get a "feel" as to my range of motion and not to depend on my eyesight alone to catch them so that i could instead focus my attention on the show, not my hands and eyes. It worked, and i improved a ton...but it sure did hurt until i got the hang of it

No problem
. You'll get the hang of it- and remember....for every good preformance...there's sweat, blood and tears that go behind it....everyone screws up from time to time....but that will make you better at what you do. Keep your chin up and keep practicing! I know you will do great
