My two female cats were spayed last week. one of them is fine besides the fatrolls i described in he separate thread while another one developed swelling underneath the stitches, which feels more like a hernia to the touch: firm, muscle-like tissue. The kitten behaves normaly, playful and cheerful, eats and drinks normally and has no problem using the litter box so i'm not really worried, since its not swallen or red, but Im concerned that this will create a problem in a long run. Is this a spay sway?

she could be having a reaction to the internal disolving stitches. best to ring your vet and describe it to them. did they give you a course of antibiotics when they discharged her? if so could just be she's been pulling and licking at the stitches, might need to get an elizabethan collar to keep her from licking it. either way you need to contact your vets.

if it would be a reaction there would swellness and skin would turn red, but i dont see any of those symptoms, and she barely licks the wound. plus it feels really hard to the touch. i will call to the vet to check what could that be.

not in all cases. i'm a vet nurse here in the UK and we have had some cats have allergic reactions to the internal disolving stitches with out any redness on the outside in the first stages of it. just the swelling and hardness.

my last two both had a bump right at the incision mark that the vet told me was normal & it did eventually disappear. but i called & asked to be sure.
