I'm very nervous right now. Alex can't seem to swallow anything. He tries to eat, chews, and then spits his food back out. I called the 24 emergency vet in the area and they said since he seems to be himself otherwise, that I can wait until I get home from work tomorrow to take him into my regular vet. They said if he turns lethargic I should take him in immediately. I can't stay up all night to watch him, nor can I miss work. I'm concerned because there will be no one to watch him during the day in the event that something does go wrong. What can be causing this? His teeth don't seem to hurt, and his throat looks clear.

Can you drop your kitty off at the vet in the morning on your way to work for observation? Then pick him up after work and have a consultation with the vet?

I think he's drinking ok, but it's hard to keep track with two cats. Plus, the fountain's upstairs and the cats have been downstairs with us most of the evening. We haven't been observing his water intake; we didn't notice a problem until just an hour or two ago.

I was wondering if I could drop him off at the vet's for the day. I don't know if that's an option. I hope so. I'd feel much better.
