I was so excited to get two new kittens this weekend from a listing in the paper. They were listing them for $40 each, but they gave me a deal when I asked to take home two. They are both about 7 weeks old but one is much bigger than the other and they are from two different litters. The girl is Molly and she is a black and white long haired kitty and the boy is Bailey and he is a siamese mix with cream body and darker ears, tail and face. They are both so adorable and my little 5 year old and I are in love with them. I will share photos of them asap.

We have another kitty inside who is a little over a year old and netured (Michoud---pronounced Me Shew). He wasn't so accepting of them at first. He would growl, hiss and swat at them when I first brought them home. When I wasn't supervising them, I would keep the two kittens separate from him. Now he is really curious and I think he wants to play with them but I still think it is too soon to leave them together when I'm not there since the kittens are so small. Do you agree? I just don't want Michoud to be too rough with them especially with Molly who was the runt of her litter. I have vet appointments for them tomorrow and I'll ask him what he thinks about them being around Michoud. Just wanted to see what you guys thought in the meantime.

I would agree....give them some more time. I would also encourage you to keep these kittens seperate until they have seen your vet and have received a clean bill of health. Have they received any shots?? If not..they are due for their first FVRCP and dewormer.

No, they have not received shots yet. I'm having the vet give them their first shots, treat them for fleas and ear mites and deworm them tomorrow. The person I got them from said that she treated them for round worms once already but I am having it done again just to be on the safe side. I know they can't treat them with Frontline at 7 weeks (I'm told they need to be 8 weeks old) but there is something else the vet said they could give them for fleas. I was disappointed I took them home with fleas because I have none in my house. My other indoor kitty is always on Frontline.

Thanks for your help!!!

Very little kittens with fleas can be bathed in warm water with a little Dawn dishwashing soap. Dawn is mild enough for this.
It will probably take 2 bathings, but let a week go by between, so you don't dry out their skin.
I did this for 5-week-old kittens, so tiny I washed them (one at a time) in my medium sized mixing bowl.
Make sure you rinse off all the soap and it's nice to wrap them in a towel still warm from the dryer.
