hi there, i'm hoping to get some reassurance that my kitty will be ok...

yesterday, i had some company over and think that my kitty's tail may have gotten scrunched in a closing door. last evening i noticed that she wasn't holding her tail up and when i pet her, she seemed to let me know that the middle part is where the pain is. she is still able to move it, i saw her lift it up a bit when jumping up on the dresser. and she the tip is still quite responsive, moving a bit as normal.

she's eating, using the litterbox per usual but i'm still planning a vet visit tomorrow. but i'm still nervous and worried...

any helpful words of reassurance or similar experiences?

My baby was in a car accident and got her tail broken (I was fostering her while she recovered from her injuries and adopted her
). Apparently she couldnt hold it up, it just hung there limp, so they amputated it because they said her little bottom could get infections from her tail there.

She'll be ok until she gets to the vets, but if they say it's better to have her tail amputated, just know that it heals so fast, they are incredibly adaptable, and she'll just be fascinated by other cats tails

Good luck and keep us posted!

I was laying next to my cat and accidentally leant on her tail and she yelped on pain. Now I'm worried that i have dislocated or damaged it. I feel awful as i have never hurt her before in any way. She wont let anyone touch it but she can still move it because she was wagging her tail fine afterwards. Should i take her to the vets or leave it for a day or so. I may be over reacting seeing as i only did it half an hour ago, but i panicked. What should i do???

I would just keep an eye on it. If you see any signs of distress, including difficulty using the litter box, a quick vet visit is called for.
