persian pregnancy?

hi my persian cat was sitting happily yesterday eating her dinner,when a moggy tom came in and raped her!!!!!she was very upset and spitting etc...but he had his way and i couldnt get him off her.so i need to know how do i tell if she is pregnant or not?bonnie is eleven months old.i have been waiting to get her spayed but as she has been in heat for 5 months continously,my vet wont perform the operation(til the season ends)no help at all.now she may be pregnant.how do i tell????please help me help my baby.

Find another vet if possible. Better to have her spayed now then for her to produce an unwanted litter.

BTW next time you want to break two cats up, spray them with water ! If you had done that with the tom, he'd have stopped immediately. You need to prevent him from getting a neck hold of her - toms cannot mate without grabbing the females neck.

This comes from experienced breeders to prevent mating.


You can't tell if she is pregnant till she's either out of heat or in about 3 weeks.

i agree about changing vets - if he succesfully mated her, she will come out of heat, and then hopefully your vet will spay her - you are best spaying regardless of whether she is pregnant or not though. It is harder to spay in heat, but better than them being continually in heat for so long.

I agree with the other posters...try to switch vets and have her spayed.

It says she is located in the UK...

I would suggest she spay her girl now because there are so many unwanted kittens in the world, plus you have no idea what disease the tomcat could possibly have...

ok i took your advice and went to another vet,he says there is no reason to not spay her even if she is in season or pregnant so she is booked in for friday!!!thankyou so much for your help everyone.xxx
