I've been reading some of the entries in the Crossing the bridge forum and can't stop crying. I feel your pain and your losses! It's devasting to lose a pet and you never really get over it - you just learn to go on. My Whiskers passed away 5 years ago - a beautiful long haired black gentleman. He was almost 18 years old when he died of renal failure. He held on until my daughter came home from university and then passed over the bridge. We were all devasted by his loss as he had been a cherished family member since kittenhood. I still think of him all the time and miss him, but think back to the happy times we had. It took me two years before I could accept and love another cat. I now have my Loki who is not a replacement for my Whiskers, he is loved for himself and his quirky personality. I am very comforted by the thought that I will once again see Whiskers when I too pass! Chin up, all of you, it will get better.

I'm so sorry that you lost your sweet baby.

Rest in peace Whiskers, enjoy your time at the bridge.

I'm sorry for your loss. I had several very painful losses...all were young kittens. The responses to my posts were very healing. I continue to find so much comfort here at the bridge forum. Although it hurts to read about other people's losses, for some reason it also comforts me to read and post here. I am drawn to the bridge, while hoping I don't need to post here!

I am really, really sorry for your loss. Losing pets is one of the hardest things that's ever happened to me. I guess what makes it harder is that it's harder to get people to understand the loss of a pet than a human companion, which is what makes this forum a huge help for coping with losses.

i am sorry to hear of your loss. I have found it quite easy to deal with some of my losses, but I take on oldies, so you do expect not to have as much time with them, and also I can look back and know that I gave them a good end to life, which is what all cats deserve. I do think places like this, however hard at times, are good, and we can all support each other as the majority of us know what it is like to lose a loved one.

Thank you all so much - I know that he is! My heart goes out to all that have lost kitties in the past - I know it's very difficult!
