My two 3 month old kittens got spayed and nuetered yesterday. We brought them home right after their surgery and they were acting so normal, i thought maybe they didnt actually do the procedures, lol. Ive never seen two such wide awake and active kittens, so soon after surgery.

Anyway my question is that the female keeps licking her suture area, I stop her, but i cant always be around to stop her. Those E collars are just too big for her.

I was wondering if i could slip a sock on her with cutout leg holes? Someone suggested this for my Momma cat who needed to wean her babies, thought maybe it could work for this too?

Any suggestions? There are no sutures, i believe the doctor used glue?

Thanks!

Congrats on getting these two fixed.
Isn't it amazing how active they are?? Every kitten we've had fixed for our rescue has been just as zanny as before the surgery. I think the sock idea is a good one...but I would just cut the end off the sock and place it around her like a hotdog bun around her tummy. I would cut it so that it only fits around her stomach area. Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

Yes, a sock will do marvels. But make sure that if you use a thight or thick nylon you remove loose threads ( I am not sure of the word as I am not English speaking) on the edge where you cut it, as your cat may lick this as well and swallow those.

Make sure also to take picture of her in her Robin Hood attire :-) She will look also like a sausage. Very funny :-) And the cat won't suffer from it, just being a bit annoyed, that's it !
