I've talked it over with my grandmother and she says I can get a bearded dragon as long as I keep it at my mother's house (the only people who are there on a regular basis are my brother and cousin, and they don't mind reptiles). So, here is the thing. I haven't had one of these reptiles in a long time. I have a general idea of what they need, but I need to put together a shopping list so I can gradually get all the things I need.

My problem is, I've been spending far too much money at Petsmart for my own good. We are talking around $80 a week. I must say though, that most of this is because I've been getting two ten gallon fish tanks up and running, and as of right now, I no longer have to buy anything big and expensive. The most I'll have to buy is monthly things, like water conditioner and such. So this is why I need to buy things gradually, to get myself out of buying a lot of things all at once and blowing a whole paycheck.

I currently have a 29 gallon tank complete with wire top. So, to make my shopping list, I'll need to know what I'll need in order to bring the little baby dragon home.

DO NOT get a heat mat or rock!!! Beardies do not feel heat through their bellies and will roast to death before they know it is too hot.

I'm going to get a heat lamp, not a heating rock. I'll be getting a young dragon since the petstore I'll be buying from does not sell adults. I was thinking of a set up like this......

Tank Carpet (While the dragon is young.)
Fine Sand (For when the dragon is older)
Heating Lamp
Food Dish for Mealworms
Water Dish
Rock for Basking
Wooden Branches
Misting Bottle
Thermometers
Humidity thermometer
Regular Lamp

And a Cricket Keeper to keep the crickets in.

sounds like a good start to me. I never fed mine meal worms....i rescued them from a home that did not provide the right heat for them and they spent the first 3 days upchucking mealworms because they had not digested anything, and mealworms if not properly chewed will stay alive and will burrow through the digestive track. I fed mine cricket along with vegetables.
