So here is the odd situation I have been through:

Last Sunday my sister left for LA (I live in the Bay Area) and she left her cat with us for about a week. We let her cat outside and weren't worried at all because this cat loves to explore. On Sunday as my dad was cleaning our yard a bit, he heard meowing across our neighbors fence. We thought it couldve been my sister's cat and we were a bit worried. But probably about 5 minutes later we see her black cat walk by the house, perfectly fine. So we just assumed my neighbor had a cat. Yesterday as my parents were out to work, I heard that same meowing near the fence. I snuck into my neighbor's backyard and was a little curious because it was sorta weird that a cat was just meowing at the same spot of the fence. In my neighbor's backyard, I heard a meow, but this time it was coming from our side of the fence, which was a bit awkward. I returned to our backyard and looked under a couple bushes and found a small kitten sitting all by itself under our grape bushes. It had no siblings nearby and I searched around just incase they were just seperated. I didn't find any so I was afraid that this cat either wandered off and got lost. So I took it inside and gave it a little milk and now its actively running about my room and also hasn't had any accidents and just used a litter box I made out of a cardboard box. I talked with my sister over the phone and she said she could possibly adopt it. A friend of mine identified the kitten as a boy, and he is a very sociable cat, climbing on top of me and into my arms and lap.

I'm just wondering what should I feed it for the meantime, how to care for it and what kind of cat he is. I was thinking he is a pixie-bob but I just wanna make sure of it.

All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First and foremost - keep him separated from all other cats for the time being.
If he has fleas, is carrying parasites, has certain diseases, he can spread to the other cats in the household. Getting him to the vet is a priority.

Get some food made for KITTENS. I like using wet and dry but there is disagreement about what is best. Milk is not so good for cats most of the time, so please get him some real food and forgo the milk.

He sounds friendly and socialable. Is he litter trained?
Others here might have better suggestions as to how to check for lost pets. If he is comfortable with humans he might just be lost and not from a feral colony. For now, check the neighbor signs people post and your local paper and businesses.

He is a beautiful boy! He is v. lucky to have found you.

The above advice is good.

He's a baby, so don't forget that his needs and abilities are different from an adults, so he will need extra attention and patience.

Make sure to grill your vet for advice, so that you know you understand everything you have to do.

So CUTE! Well I am in a similar situation. I agree go to the vet ASAP. Especially since it was outside. I haven't gotten close enough to 'my' kitten to play with it, but I have been getting bit by its tiny insects when I go outside. Remember they can bite other animals and us too.

Good thing he went to the liter box

Is this kitten outside?? I guess I'm confused by the statement above.

Katie - LoveKG started a different thread - and she brought the kitten inside. This thread was started by Lavie1028.

You've already gotten great advice. Kitty does need to see a vet, and definitely needs to remain separated from any other cats.

For a kitten, it's best to keep them only in one room at first. Make sure it's safe for them, and make sure they've got a hidey place, like a box. Put the litter box on the other side of the room from food and water.

Leave ONLY safe toys out for him to play with. Interactive toys are great - just make sure you put them away where kitty can't get to them when you're done.

Kitten food is very important. Milk - unless it is goat's milk - is not good for cats.

Kitty being so little will probably need help cleaning, or his face will tend to get crusty. Warm water on a wash cloth works just fine to clean his little muzzle after he's eaten.

He may need help going to the bathroom or learning to use a litterbox. If he hasn't gone to the bathroom by evening after having eaten in the morning, massage his abdomen gently with a cloth (like a wash cloth) that has warm water on it. He looks like he should be old enough not to have any problems, but just in case.

What a cutey! Thank you for rescuing him!

Also - is your sister's cat spayed or neutered? The cat really should not be allowed outside unless it has been. If you/your sister needs low-cost spay/neuter, please click on the link in my signature line to help you find a service.

Yeah her cat has been neutered. Her cat is really nice, and after a quick vet checkup, this little kitty will be going to a good home.
