Any ideas? My cat is acting normal in all ways, food, activity, playing, loving. his coat shines, except that he has started vomiting. Not every day, but some days multiple times. There is hair in the vomit, but not usually food...just liquid. He's over 14 yrs old.

At 14+years, a consult with the vet is definitely in order
It could be that as he ages, his stomach is more sensitive and the hairballs really aggravate him. Please keep us posted on what the vet says

Spoke with a vet and they told me to try giving him Laxatone (1/2-1 tsp) daily for 1 week and to feed him Science Diet-Sensitive Stomach and Senior Hairball (50/50 mix). The Laxatone is really something else to give him; he hates it...but we're working on getting some down every day. He was just not eating the dry foods, so I switched him to Science Diet canned Senior foods. He's not eating as much as he used to yet, but he's eating and getting more fiesty, and hasn't thrown up in 2 days. The last hairball was about 2 1/2 inches long and about 3/8 inches thick. Never have I seen anything like this with him. I'm thinking it must be partially due to the heat we've been having here. The vet also said if we see any improvement at all to then continue the regimen for another week. So far, so good!!!
If he is eating wet food and not dry that is fine. Wet is so much better then dry food. But if the dry food is prescribed by the vet you may want to ask for alternatives. I don't think Science Diet is all that great quality food.
