its basically a heavy duty pet food container that seals food airtight. it keeps the food away from exposure to air, moisture, ants... all in all it keeps it fresh and potent.

its really expensive, but i keep really expensive food inside it so i think in the long run it'll pay for itself. plus its so easy to use.

anyways, here it is: http://www.amazon.com/The-Vittles-Va...702318?ie=UTF8

feel free to delete this post if you think i'm advertising. i'll understand. i just thought it was a neat idea.

we have two of those in the US for my dog. they are great if you buy the big bags of food. also good so you can keep the food out for easy access the dogs cats and other animals can get in them

I use a giant popcorn tin that you get at Xmas time (it holds three flavors of popcorn.) Nice and airtight, and holds a LOT of cat food!

I got one for free with a 10-lb bag of food. It was some kind of package deal from Iams. I like it too because it pours. I don't know if it's totally airtight or not... but moreso than just the bag, which Zissou likes to chew and rip apart

becareful with those. sometimes they rust with moisture introduced from a warm back of cat food from the car! don't want rusty food.

I use a big popcorn tin for cat food, and a big rubbermaid container for dog food. Seems to work well.

One thing to keep in mind for anyone who buys pet food in bulk, vitamins do have a shelf life, vitamin c for example is no good after 6 months. Also, especially in more natural foods, fats and oils can go rancid, especially in warmer weather.
I just buy enough for a couple of weeks at a time.

We use a clean metal garbage can in the garage for cat and dog food. It is fairly airtight, I have never seen bugs in it, and it keeps raccoons out! LOL! We have lots of cats, so a 30 pound capacity wouldn't be enough. I have used popcorn tins in the past.
